3D printing IS the future

Post by flyboy_fx » Mon Apr 15, 2013 12:58 am

I doubt it will replace the scratch builders who work with brass, metals, styrene, etc. But 3D printing is really getting more and more detailed! Look at how fine the details are!

With the quality of the prints getting better and better, who knows where we'll be! Maybe even details such as weld seems can be added!

Yes indeed 3-d printing is the wave of the future.

Is there any way you can contact him to see if he will offer any of his stuff in 1/18th scale.

Especially those vision covers !!!

John Wayne : Mine was taller

Hopefully they'll get bigger in scale without costing an arm and a leg so that one doesn't have to print out sections but rather full units.

Yes, I wrote some scale model manufactures last year that they should watch out for 3D printers. The only thing they have in their advantage is that they will keep making the best paintjobs and decals. When will 3D printers can give such realistic paintings? In 10 yrs from now?

I think we can buy the scale blueprints from the plane manufactures themselves in the future as they always have the copyrights of their models in 1:1 or any other scale. Would be intersting to question how much Lockheed will then ask for a 1:18 F-22 printfile, then copyright agents will get busy when people spread out torrent files? Okay, a bit too forward thinking I guess, but indeed 3D printers are the future! Feel a bit sad for the scale model makers, because they can forget the business in 10-20 yrs. from now.

3D printing will be the future.......IF it becomes affordable, but 1:18 vehicles and tanks around $500
and aircraft more than that  not much of a future.

An A-10 made by 3D printing? about the cost of 3 or 4 3D printed tanks........
