Someone name this unit crest. Pic in last post link.

I recently got the iron horses two pack with the Sherman and panzer iv.

My question is the panzer iv is number 829 and the emblem is in front of it but i can't tell who it is. Can someone tell me what the unit emblem is suppose to be?

There was a 21c 32x Iron Horses pack with a Sherman and Panzer IV? I don't remember that one. I recall the SDK251/SDK-222 pack and the one with the Tiger and M-18, but never saw the one you mention. Do you have a picture?

But I'm not surprised. Wal Mart's distribution, even during the golden age, was so crappy

What's the symbol? it isn't very clear in the picture.
If it's a bear in a shield, that would be 3rd Panzer division.
The turret numbers make it 9th vehicle 2nd platoon 4th company 2nd battalion.

I can't make it out. Like i said i just have my phone to use here. I was hoping someone who had one would know. It's a shield with something in it but i can't make it out. Is there a way to upload a pic from my phone. Or do i have to do it the photobucket way?

It almost looks like a black forward facing wolf's head in an old style white police badge shield.

If that helps, but it's hard to tell.

There's a close up pic in the database of that Panzer, but still can't quite make out what insignia it is.
I imagine it's some sort of Normandy or Battle of the Bulge tank adversaries with the Sherman in there?

I just started using Photobucket for my smartphone it works good.

It is very difficult to get a clear image of the emblem. By best guess would be the 17th SS PzGrenDiv.

Thanks guys. Even if I uploaded a picture I don't think it would help. It's hard to make out just looking at it with the naked eye.

I'd almost attempt a search in my Indiana Jones wear house (garage) to see if I have that set or tank, but the top men (me) don't know exactly where it could be, it could take all day.

It just drives me nuts because I always like to know what units my tanks come from and i can't figure this one out.

NHoggard12 - I'm not sure 17th SS Panzergrenadier division had a two battalion panzer regiment in its organisation - I think they had a stug abteilung for their armoured element.
Might be wrong, but that's what my references say.

I got the text but the not the pic, but the one here is good.

So far it's more what it isn't rather than a positive i.d.

Because the tank has the 8-- number it's supposed to be from a formation or regiment with two battalions, but as far as I can see, it's not an insignia from a Wermacht or SS Panzer division, and not from a Panzer Grenadier division - they shouldn't have a tank battalion anyway.

I'll go down to the tank museum and see if they have any info there. Let you know what I find.

I've researched this as far as I can, and unless somebody else can come up with a positive I.D. for a tank unit that I've missed finding, I think the emblem has been made up.

I can't find any army or SS unit with a similar wolf on a shield insignia, in fact the closest match I could find was Luftwaffe fighter unit III JG 77
