Beginnings of my 1:144 aircraft fleet

i've heard the Dragon Fortresses are very good but don't have any. I got the F toys G and the Cafereo F. I havn't put together the Cafereo yet so i can't comment but from pics it looked fine to me. I got it because i wanted a B-17 without chin turret. I would steer clear of Corgi, unless someone recommends it highly.

There something about the chin gun on the B-17 that I just like, it would also be nice to find an A, but I don't know if anyone makes one?

Also, does anyone have any of the F-Toys modern jets/helicopters?
Such as the F-15, A-10, F-104, or ANY of the heli's?

Your welcome, I keep getting VERY frustrated when I get a German model, and not having all the markings! Lol

so i just splurged and bought 2 Dragon B-29's. I got Enola Gay from EchoBaseToys. They had it for list price but shipping was a lot. Overall still much cheaper than ebay prices for this.

And i got Homeward Angel from cyber hobby for a fairly decent price.

I already have Bock's Car so now i've got the trio of Dragon Superfort's.

I still can't figure out what the things hanging from the bottom are, I did buy it out of box from a Canadian seller, maybe something was mounted there?

Those things hanging down under the wings of the TB-3 are retractable dustbin machine gun positions similar to those seen on the bomber version of the JU-52 and also the JU-86. They forgot to include the guns, however.

Pictures of this feature are almost impossible to find. I would paint the upper inside of each dustbin a round black color, indicating that it is hollow. Then I'd put a machine gun in each slot, facing towards the rear, and let it go at that.

or you could just cut them off, no? Since they were retractable, you could just pretend they are retracted.

Don't have any B-29's yet, but looking to get at least one. Looks like Homeward Angel is the only one with turrets. Even the other 1:144 makes don't look like they have them because they are all the atom bomb versions.

Gonna need some tail markings for the Luftwaffe planes I got and more on the way, so thanks for the link THP. None I have came with them except the Hobby Master Ju-52
The He-115, Do-24 and Me-264 came in yesterday from Planecrazy in UK.

Ordered another round of Altayas from a seller in UK. The Ju-188, Ju-88, B-25 and an A-20 Havoc in D-Day markings.

Not in this scale, I'm afraid. If you have any spare airplane kits about, I would cut off some of the small plastic sprues ----or any other tube like plastic parts that resemble machine gun barrels-----and use these painted black or metallic ( a black and silver mix )----to simulate the machine guns in the dustbins.

THP, if you have any old model kits use a piece of sprue. Heat it over a candle and stretch it out thin until it's 1/144 gun barrel width. Hold it til it cools and cut and paint.

Ill see what I can come up with, I do have a 1/144 C-17 model kit I've had a while, still unopened though, I guess I could open it up and see what I can do, is there sappose to be a gunners seat in there aswell, or no?

I took an inventory of my humble 1:144th scale warbird collection----that portion of it that's on display, that is-----and was surprised to see how many models in the twin engine or larger category still grace my shelves. Many low quality models have, of course, been discarded over time and I'm not going to cheat by including my burgeoning Hachette Japan collection or by counting anything that's not within 5-10 points of actually being 1:144th, as this would easily double the size of my presentation. Epap, what do you think of the Atlas Bear? Is it worth getting? From what i can see the gaps down the sides look pretty bad and the propeller spinners are too short. Still a neat bird though. What do you think of it?

Actually, the Atlas Bear isn't as bad as one might think, AF. Yes, it's a crude piece---like all of the other models in this old series-----and there is an extended seam gap from front to rear that looks bad in many pictures, plus nicks, scrapes, and a general lack of detail. Also, the metal on my model is roughly finished in some places and they haven't even bothered to paint the small side blisters. Still, assuming that you don't get a real lemon---QC-wise------I'd give it a try. I've taken a few pictures of my model which ,may help you to decide.
