Me, I'd be happy with a A-1 Skyraider, FW-190A, F-9F Panther, F8F Bearcat or F-8 Crusader

I'd like a Me-163 Komet.

Chinook would be awesome in 1:18 scale, but I've got to go with the Hind first.
For the plane , I definitely want an A-10!

I agree with you YT.
I would love especially to buy the Hind off of the shelf.

Funny thing is mass market and garage kit prices will soon be intersecting with the rate of inflation and foreign production costs rising!pickelhaube wrote:YT wrote:A-10 & Hind, at a mass market price.

As jets go I am partial to the F-4 Phantom and A-4 Skyhawk since I saw a lot of those growing up during the time my dad was in the navy. As far as helicopters go I like the AH-1 Cobra (Vietnam) and for planes I would still like to see the A-1 Skyraider.

Re: Choice your most wanted plane and helicopter for 1:18 **
Dang it, I hate these "wish list" threads
They are a good sign you can tell the market has slowed or dried up and the collectors have nothing better to do. But its not an entirely uselsess endeavor as we've had some 1:18 "wish list" planes that came to fruition, including the Japanese Zero, ME-262, F-86, F-14, and most recently, the Dauntless.
I've got a few selections for most wanted aircraft, most of which are based on planes we were promised by one company or another and which even made it to prototype stage in some cases. Not so many for helicopters as I think the US inventory has been covered pretty well. Still, it I had to choose only one of each, I'd like the following:
Aircraft:
F-4 Phantom
Proposed by both 21c and Admiral Toys before the demise of each, even making it to prototype form. Its a classic Vietnam jet fighter, of which we really don't have a good example of in 1:18 scale. Depending on how a manufacturer tweaked the tooling, we could get different model variants, armaments, and TONS of great USAF, USN, USMC, and foreign paint jobs.
Helicopter:
Russian MIL 24 Hind
This may have been proposed by BBI at one point, but no one has really taken it on. It would certainly be big, but really not that much larger than a 1:18 Blackhawk. The tooling would be fun - retractable gears, interior troop compartment, that neat bubble canopy, and lots of guns, rockets, and missiles. Its the classic Soviet-bloc helicopter gunship and gives our Apaches and Supercobras something to shoot at.

Re: Choice your most wanted plane and helicopter for 1:18 **
Would have to be AV-8B Harrier and I already have the chopper AH-1W
Re: Choice your most wanted plane and helicopter for 1:18 **
So, some people caring about price and size elect the A-4 Skyhawk, followed by the AV-8B Harrier.
What about a small helicopter, if the MIL-PH MI-24 doesn't get out of dreams?
There's not much choice in the US inventory. Or back to the Vietnam Era, with a simple Kiowa, a Cobra...
When nothing new,the Knighthawk could also wake some interest, more simple retooling, less work as from the Blackhawk to the MH-60K, if we can't hope a Navy SH-60 Seahawk...

The Bell 47/H-13 would be perfect for a smaller helicopter.granch wrote:So, some people caring about price and size elect the A-4 Skyhawk, followed by the AV-8B Harrier.

Re: Choice your most wanted plane and helicopter for 1:18 **
My absolute dream plane in 1/18 has already been produced. You can figure that one out by my avatar name.
Too bad JSI screwed up the landing gear and certain blockpoint features that made it a mish mash between earlier variants and later Bombcat variants and a paint job that matched neither direction they were going for. At least the 2nd release had the paint job more in tune with variant reality.
F-15, F-4, A-10 would be nice, same for a F-100, but I really want the A-6E Intruder!!!

I could be one for the Foxbat
A helicopter does not want to fly, it just vibrates so much that the ground rejects it
Re: Choice your most wanted plane and helicopter for 1:18 **
Yeah me too mate, one of the fastest coollest jets, it looks so simple and bulky, but still slim, those rockets alone should be huge in 1:18The_Helicopter_Pilot wrote:I could be one for the Foxbat

Since the F 4 has been mentioned. Another promised aircraft the MIG 21 is my choice. If ever both were released like the F 86 and MIG 15. I'd certainly purchase the MIG first. For a heli it would have to be a single engine Cobra.
Re: Choice your most wanted plane and helicopter for 1:18 **
Oh yeah, totally forgot the Fishbed. But I still have all the 21st CT released pics of the F-4 and MiG-21 which you could download on their site back then, were very pretty pics of the prototypes. In that time the market was really good I guess, remember also they had some interesting job applications: Toy designer/thinker en even a prototype builder or something like that? For a jet I would like the F-4 Phantom for a prop the A-1 Skyraider. Especially since both had prototypes pretty far along at Admiral

Re: Choice your most wanted plane and helicopter for 1:18 **
My favs:
Helo - Mil-24 hind
Jet - Harrier (USMC and/or RAF)
Prop - Mosquito
For helos, the next one almost certainly needs to be foreign (non-US). Hind would be the clear favorite, but it is big. The remaining US ones would likely be too big in 1:18 (CH-46, CH-47, CH-53, CV-22).
For Jets, the F-14 showed big can sell, but needs to be done well. A smaller jet like the AV-8, F-5, A-4, or Mig-21 might need to get produced first for manufacturers to regain confidence. Then the big boys like A-10, F-4, F-15, F-22, Euro Typhoon, Su-27, and Mig-29 might sell well. I think the F-117 could be a seller as well.
For WWII props, the US inventory is really well covered. Maybe a Wildcat or P-39 (one of my favs) would sell. British has barely been touched - a later mark Spit for sure would sell; Hurricane, Typhoon, Tempest, and Mosquito are other great choices. German FW-190 seems to be on the way - which is a solid choice for Merit. Russian IL-2 might sell as well. The Il-16 would be a fun, inexpensive, small prop - but not sure of the popularity.
Under helos and props, forgot to mention the recent star - UAVs! A helo UAV would be a nice size for 1:18, but they aren't as well known/popular. A Predator would be doable in 1:18, but the cooler/bigger Reaper is probably too wide.

Yes, UAV! One time a foot in the future! BTW, a lot of styropor RC Predators and Reapers allready fly - and make movies (even from their own crash...)
