If this info about Merit NOT making a 190A turns out to be accurate, will you still knock out the conversion parts? I have a butchered D-9 with the A model tail mods done which was started just before the Merit rumors surfaced. It looks absolutely pitiful in it's present state!
I have heard that the 190 will be " the next in production " from Merit.

Don't know about Dicks Bong but this is the 21st 88 by JSI in 1:18.

I'm really curious about the aircraft carrier, I missed out on the 1/350 Hornets but that might end up being a good thing. The 21st century repaints don't interest me all that much, at least not until I see proper pics and the real discussion starts. That other piece of artillery is cool but we'll see.

I'm digging that M777 and the 109 Howitzer
Can't tell if it's an A6 Paladin though

Why are they showing it?

The 21st 88 started to show up in the States in Nov. '08.[CAT]CplSlade wrote:How old is the 21C 88mm flak now?

It seems JSI has the 21st molds for the 88 (among others). I believe JSI was the production company for
many 21st products.
In a long running dispute, some say 21st / All-Go owes JSI money. JSI took ownership of the
molds and started selling 1:18 aircraft and now the 88mm Flak Gun (it says 1/18 Flak 88 model kit).

Merit is the distributor for JSI.

Re: Merit at 2013 New York Toy Fair
I understand the distribution/ownership thing, but I thought the Toy Fair was to highlight new offerings from these companies, not 4-year-old stuff. Unless they are calling it new because they've converted it into a kit maybe?normandy wrote:The 21st 88 started to show up in the States in Nov. Could be another F-14 repaint too. I think Jim mentioned a Sundowners or Tophatters scheme would be next. Not sure which one though.

It's a confirmed yes on the Sundowners F-14 repaint, and a whole new Jet in 1/18.

Hope we find out soon. If rumors are true and there is in fact another new jet (modern era) on the way I can't think of anything better then an A-10 in terms of most frequently requested.
Re: Merit at 2013 New York Toy Fair
Maybe its the F-15 prototype they showed off earlier? It would also be wonderful if it was the F-4.....Beeavision wrote:Hope we find out soon. For CplSlade:
Toy Fair was not just a show for new products, it was to highlight their line of products.
Toy Fair is not for us (individual collectors/toy fanatics), TF was always a trade show to entice buyers from stores/etailer outlets. The last TF I attended 21C had a couple of 1/6 Stuarts running around their booth even though their Stuart line production had long before stopped. The Stuarts had the effect of enticing buyers to stop by and check out their goods.
At that time my Daughter had a web site and she reviewed toys. Amazing how many toys you can collect just by offering to review their product. We had "Press" badges to allow up to check out what was new. Even though she hasn't done that in a few years, some big toy guys still send her stuff to review.

Re: Merit at 2013 New York Toy Fair
Heck yeah, I would gratefully take either.
I'm sure it took quite a bit of man hours just to get the prototypes to the stage their both at now which is kind of like getting your foot in the door metaphorically speaking. On the other hand the A-10 would have to be started from scratch. If not the A-10 then I feel the F-15 or F-4 would be the next best thing due to their very similar over all size when compared to the Su-27. And remember there was also that 1:18 Mig-21 21st Century Toys advertised many years back not to mention the F-100 Super Sabre Merit reveled as a kit in prototype form.

Re: Merit at 2013 New York Toy Fair
Its just been confirmed on Merit's Facebook site. There will indeed be two new aircraft released in 1:18.....maybe this year perhaps. One a fighter jet the other a WW2 plane. And no the A-10 is not one of them unfortunately. They plan to make the announcement in April. And so we're left to wait in anticipation.....

Re: Merit at 2013 New York Toy Fair
Well, I guess the WWII aircraft will be the Fw-190 A.
The jet
we know it won't be the Me-163.......its not a jet and we already have one in 1:18.
Hmm, Already got a Horten....whats left ?
All kidding aside, April is not that far off.... Just hope they don't make the announcement on the 1st.

Re: Merit at 2013 New York Toy Fair
Here's the breakdown on what jet it maybe. With the A-10 out of the picture it rounds down to the following....
Su-27/J-11 - Too big and likely won't happen before the others.
F-4 & F-15 - Both already have completed prototypes and are pretty close to equal in size and mass. 50/50 chance
F-100 Super Sabre - A bit smaller then the rest. Has a working prototype and was featured to be a kit two or so years ago to help keep costs down. Was first announced by PWP Design customs.
Mig-21 - Don't think there was ever a prototype made other then a small ad campaign by 21st Century Toys suggesting it. Smaller then the F-100.
So there you have it. If the Mig-21 had a working prototype I would probably suggest it over the F-100... maybe. However in this case the F-100 might very well be our next jet. I don't think Merit wants to release anything too large yet in fear of what happen over the F-14. I seriously hope to be proven wrong though as neither are favorites of mine compare to the F-4 and F-15.

Re: Merit at 2013 New York Toy Fair
Merit have done a very good job of giving us something new in 1/18 for the last couple of years, and not just repaints for some.
I have faith that they will make the right "business move" for themselves, as after all, it is a business.
Would hope for a FW190A for WWII, as that makes sense.
For the jet, would love to see either the F-15, or Su 27.
Think a 1/18 Phantom would make more sense though, as the Phantom is a diecast collectors favourite, with a ton of liveries.
But an Eagle or Flanker would be ultra cool.
