From BCA:

UPDATE 11/09/05: Production is tentatively scheduled for Mid-December 2005. IF all goes according to plan, an arrival sometime in January can be projected. We know this item is at the top of most everyone's list and we are doing everything possible on our end to help encourage the project's completion. We are confident that our friends at 21st WILL come through with the very best aircraft offered thus far in this scale. Thanks for being patient, the TBM WILL DEFINITELY BE WORTH THE WAIT!! :D

It looks great!

I actually prefer to see it without insignia, that way it could be used by anyone.

I dont suppose that 21st offers test shots for sale do they?

Amazing!! We sit here and talk about how toy companies should listen to us and make what we want, so they do, but we dont like the first color, so
we're not going to buy it? Hell, I'll buy (and have bought) one of every color of every aircraft if it will help keep the incentive alive for them to keep making new planes! (my 2 cents, now let the rock throwing begin :D )

Grandpa always said "Never kick a fresh cow-pie on a hot day." I don't know how that fits here, but I thought I'd just add it in. Personally, I'll take that Flight 19 version, get a tri-color when it's available...and if I don't like the FT-28 paintscheme, well it's good practise on the airbrush! I just want one (or three) and since I NEVER leave them stock-from-the-box...like the song says...imagination's unreal!

I'm with you CW4! I don't care what paint scheme they come out with at first. The point is that we can actually get our hands on one at last, feast on its features and dream of the possibilities. Heck guys, we've been waiting for this baby longer than I care to remember.

So long!

Well the Avenger while a great subject was not on my list of most desired aircraft. I'm buying one because it will go into my collection and to support 21st. However, I firmly believe in the premise "the customer is always right", so I'm waiting for the aircraft I personally want. I would rather not buy one that I doesn't appeal to me and I have to change, while if I wait probably about a month extra I can get the one I want. Thats one of the reasons they do repaints one version may not be everyone's cup of tea. Plus keep in mind I keep space open for multiples I like, and the Avenger is one I really don't want multiples of. Lets not even stop to consider the cost. There will be many other aircraft available in January as well.

IMO, the first scheme is always my least favorite. A good example would be the 190. I'll probably get the flight 19 though just because the avenger looks so good.

I agree. It seems that the first plane is a paint test that is perfected on following series. That kinda sucks, but I bet it sells additional planes in the end.

Me too. It's really a conversation piece & quite frankly something I never would have put on a wish list.

Regarding the Avenger, though, I can honestly say I'll wait for the Atlantic scheme.

I don't know about paint tests (although I'm sure they could be looked at like that too) but I think selling planes is where you hit it on the head Ski.
It wasn't always like this...I'm sure when 21st released White 12 and Lou IV they weren't thinking "we'll save Galland for series 6...." but now that this whole market is about repaints we see companies realize that we are hardcore and we cannot wait, so use the S1 to branch out, and you will still sell to the hardcores. Think about how many people immediately ordered a couple of bbi Corsairs even though they had the airshow scheme? Same for the Avenger - people will buy whichever comes first so they might as well pitch the first one to the guys watching the Sci-Fi channel....speaking of, that's crazy that they are including an alien with the Flight 19 Avenger

PS - I like Red 3 190 the best too - very accurate and very interesting

Yep, serious about the the little green man.
As far as a release date they dont tell me any more than you. I can say that I dont even have a preorder date yet. The open boxed peice I saw looked ready to go though, fully painted detailed and strapped into its box, with hte twist ties and plastic bands etc.
As soon as I know morre I'll pass it along 8)

Well, I guess they have to include something special for the Flight 19 version, and a scale model of the Bermuda Triangle would be a bit too much.

I don't know, adding an alien figure (if that's true) is kinda tacky, in my opinion. This is not some generic paint scheme, people did actually lose their lives.

Does the alien figure have a laser gun too?

did the Avenger you saw have human crewman too? And if so how many?

I'm not sure it it's ever been confirmed that the Avenger is coming with a three man crew, has it?

I agree. That is very tacky and men did die, not a way to honor them by throwing an alien in the box(if its true).

If this "alien" figure is true, it's a poor decision on many levels.

I don't care if they put a miniature Michael Moore :( or a Jane Fonda :? in the box. Just as long as they come packaged with the mighty avenger. :D

Zach: a while back you mentioned on the board that all five versions of flight 19 may be produced. One would be able to collect all five lettering variants... Still in the works?

F-T 28 Charles Carroll Taylor
F-T 3 Jospeh Tipton Bossi
F-T 36 Edward Joseph Powers
F-T 81 James Forrest Gerber
F-T 117 George Wiliam Stivers

I made room for all 5.
I would love to have a complete set displayed in formation.
One hundred and fifty three - 1:18 scale aircraft on the ceiling looks  damn good!
