I know a little bit of Japanese, and from what I can understand yes those are indeed custom paint schemes. What many Japanese shops like to do is modify and improve existing toys/model kits to a very high level of detail. You can buy these planes with the custom paint jobs but they come at a premium.

I did note your comment on "Bad Cat selling more 1:18 planes that TRU" and have noted that claim previously on the board. I am not sure how any party can claim to be aware of the sales quantities of another as such information is certainly not circulated or shares by bbi, indeed any and all such information is held strictly confidential.
It would be both un-ethical and poor business practice for our company to indulge in any such activities.

I have noted the number of issues regarding the stabilizers on the Zero and have arranged for BadCat to receive a significant quantity of replacements to satisfy any claims."

Speaking of ethics, VERY COOL move on the stabilizers. KUDOS.

Yep, we ain't got squat here. Never saw nuthin'! No P-51, No Corsair, No Sherman, No F-18, No Nuthin! So BCT ends up with the money.......DocTodd wrote:There is no question that I have bought more planes from BCA than TRU. It is mainly a distribution issue as the TRU's around here hardly get any of the planes that Bbi makes in 1:18. We never got no F-18's, and very few of the P-51, and very very few Corsairs.

Anybody interested in more detail pics of the BCT Zero....I got plenty. Working on correcting some of the minor problems and a few accurizing ideas too. LMK.

My Zero and Wilma
Hello there guys!
Hurricane Wilma finally brought my Zero home, and what a sweet airplane it is. I love the canopy, the wheathering and paint job, and feel that it's a much better looking airplane than what appears on the website pictures.
As for the cockpit, it's a very nicely detail peace, but I feel it was difficult to instal and and not really necessary for it to be separate from the fuselage.
The pilot is pretty cool and I appreciate the fact that he does indeed look japanese. I experienced no trouble fitting him into the cockpit, but found the articulation a little difficult and the joints somewhat flimsy.
The horizontal stabilizers were correct and fit properly into their respective slots. The elevators themselves do not travel much, but I will not let that upset me considering that my P-47s' elevators are always drooping down.
I'm really having a hard time keeping my eyes away from my Zero and just love it altogether. It's a great airplane and it was about time we had a target for our Corsairs.
As for Wilma my friends, let's just say that I'm very fortunate to still have a roof over my head and except for the electric power missing, all is well. I'm alive and my family complete. Everything else is just gravy!
Good day to you all.
Ed

Looking Good
Great job on the counterweights Ski. Can you tell me how did you make them as stiff as they appear in your pictures? Mine are very flimsy and because of the way the wings were packaged, they were actually squashed and bent.
Talk to you sometime.

Re: Looking Good
I'm happy you made it throught the hurricane. I know how it goes. When Charlie threatened Delaware and died just as it hit the coast, I was absolutely panic ridden. Add the fact that I had to fly out with the planes to Florida and leave my family behind really sucked!eddie372 wrote:Great job on the counterweights Ski. Anyways, back on topic..... Once you glue the counterweights back in, they should maintain their original shape. Yeah they're soft, but they are pretty resiliant to change....

I have a couple of better pictures on my web site.
As to delivery, as usual its supposed to be here Dec. Jan. Feb???
I've given up expecting them until they arrive on my doorstep.
They look like they've done an excellent job with this one though, the removable cockpit is a very nice touch.

the Rufe had the 39' 4" wing. this works out to same as BBi zero
the A6M2 wing would be 25 & 1/2 inches in 1/18 my BBi Zero is 26 & 1/4 in. so a little long, but that means a nice Rufe could be made with this wing.
don't get me wrong i still love this model, (which i have 2) but was wondering what they used as prototype

Zero not exactly 1:18, close enough...
I don't think the bbi Zero is exactly to scale, but not way off. BCA says the length of the plane is 19" and I don't think this is quite long enough. Combined with the extra length to the wingspan the plane has the odd appearance of being all wings. While it is only slightly off in each dimension, the combination gives it the doofy look you see in the BCA photos.
Virtually every source i checked has this as the dimensions:
http://aeroweb.brooklyn.cuny.edu/specs/ ... s/a6m2.htm
which means the BBI Zero wingspan is correct and it is 1/3 of an inch short (my bbi zero measured 19 1/2 inches long).

i never met an airplane i didn't like...
