New US ambulance arrived....
New US ambulance arrived....
Minutemen Toy Soldiers just delivered my new Forces of Valor US ambulance. I'll just give a first impression. The model represents a Dodge WC54 3/4 ton ambulance. The model is in a smooth OD finish. Lately FoV has been criticized for a lack of weathering. Personally, I don't mind the lack of weathering as FoV can sometimes be heavy handed with the dirt colors - I'll apply my own wear and dirt. The Geneva cross markings are neatly applied on my model. The major marking item missing is a US Army Medical Corps cadeusus (red on a white field) that usually appears right behind the cab doors. Both cab doors open as well as the two doors on the rear of the ambulance - a nice change from the lack of opening hatches on their M24 Light Tank. A driver is provided, but there aren't any other figures. The rear interior is nicely detailed - the troop seats fold up, the overhead litter brakets are present, and a folded stretcher is provided to hang from one. The bumper markings represent the 91st Infantry Division, 316th Medical Battalion. So, first impression is good. Not a lot of extras like stowage, etc, but a nicely done piece whose bright markings will make a nice impression when added to your collection.
By the way, the 3/4 ton chassis is nicely done and it looks like this same frame will be quite applicable to a 3/4 truck, the WC 51 or 52 (known as a "weapons carrier" in WW2) or the WC56 or 57 command car.

Thanks for the review! Glad to know it has some nice working detail features. I'm way behind on my FOV purchases as of late, but may have to get this one and the Krupp vehicle. The medic and wounded soldier in that FOV figure set from several years ago would go quite well with the Ambulance.

Mine arrived Wednesday PM. Haven't taken any photos yet, but I'll try to get some. Others will probably be faster on the trigger.

My fellow collector, YOU are the lucky first! DO IT. Do it for the CAUSE!
The success of this vehicle will depend on what they did with the back cab!
If you would be so kind, DO IT TONIGHT!!!!!
Waiting with anticipation, The PLASTIC GENERAL

Is there any metal in it, or is it a bunch of plastic like the Krupp?

Thank You for the photographs. I loved them!
They made me laugh to myself, thinking how excited I got about the f@#$ interior.
I was like some hopeless NERD looking at a dirty-book!
YES, the PLASTIC GENERAL will buy this new vehicle.
BUT....there is NO EXCUSE for NOT including a medical team.
Fairly Happy "The PLASTIC GENERAL"

I love the pics as well. Can't believe that the front doors and rear doors all open. The casting is really well done!!
