I just bought this on Ebay. I didn't think my bid would win but it did. Gulp.

I should mention it's about 1/19 scale. Like the PT boat i bought several months ago, with a little TLC i think it should be quite a nice model. I just have to get this six foot long puppy shipped to me from Britain now.

I missed that one (would have probably bid on it, too).

But I did see a Vietnam era swift boat for about that same price. Much more incomplete, though...

what a cool find! a bit pricey overall, but not really when you consider its size (almost six feet!!!). it will make an awesome target for an Atlantic Avenger!

Nice, What arrangements did you make to get it over here? Or do you plan on sailing it here your self.

Very cool Aferg. It's nice to see oldies like this one didn't end up in the boneyard. Nice addition to any collection.

Excellent Find! Might be cheapest to fly over and get it.

A hundred years ago, I was on a business trip and found the perfect present for my wife (partly to make up for a 1/1 truck I had bought). It was a huge terainium in a bottle (about 4 1/2' tall, about 7' around). How to ship? Delicate bottle, live plants? I ended up buying a airline seat for it on my flight home. They even let me fly first class and pay economy for the bottle seat even though I wouldn't let it out of my sight, right next to me. The pilot, in his walk through, was concerned about the bottle flying around in rough air but he conceded through threats (the president of American Airlines is my neighbor), whines, and stories about my wife just giving birth to twins while I was "on the road". He allowed it. Hey, what good is a white lie or two, or three unless you need it. My neighbor is an AA mechanic so, what's the difference. :?: 8)

I don't think the same consession would be allowed for a six foot wooden model in these days of security concerns.

God luck with the boat, sounds great.

Well, i'm having it shipped to me with UPS. It will cost about $300. Cheaper than one round trip and one, one-way ticket from Britain. :)

It's solid wood so i think it wil stand up to the journey just fine.

I bought one of the German Tanker figures specifically to turn him into a U-Boat deck officer.

Admittedly, a U-Boat guy probably wouldn't have had the headset (since he could just yell down the hatch), but c'est la vie, you take what you can get.

I've thought about getting a couple guys with overcoats to be guys in foul weather gear...

Well, looks like i'm not going to get my boat afterall. UPS royaly jerked me around. Before i bid, they quoted me a shipping price of $363.94CAN to ship it from the UK to me in Canada.

After confirming the price on the phone today, it turns out it will actually be over $600! A cost i cannot justify paying. They apologized that i was given the wrong quote but cannot be held responsible for quotes given over the phone yadda yadda...

I hate UPS....every single time i have dealt with them it's been nothing but a hassle.

Anyway, i talked to the seller and he's going to relist it so if anyone else is interested go get her..

I am very sad.. :(

Well that stinks. Shipping large items like that overseas is a rip. Sorry that happened to you.
