I've had the grinding sound with the sprockets on my tank as well, and have decided to live with it. It seems that when I try to turn it, or pull some sort of turning manuver on very soft ground such as soft carpet, grass, or thick mud it has this problem. (For a somewhat real example, in my Battlefront North Africa tank computer game, tanks always had a loss in performance when running through a wheat field or marsh.) My Panzer runs forward and backward over these soft surfaces rather well, nonetheless. On moderate to hard surfaces, it runs like a dream. The dirt in my backyard and in an empty lot near my house have proved to be great terrain for running the tank!

WM Finds...
I found only one of the RC Panzer IV's in the Fuquay-Varina, NC Walmart with an open package and there were no crewmen inside, so I passed on getting it. Does the RC PIV even come with a crew?

If you have found the BoB figures, look for one of the new carded German tankers in either the green or spotted uniforms and use those for the RC Panzer crew. You may have to pull the figure apart (removing the legs section) as the hatches on the RC Panzer are mostly blocked, but the tank looks good with a commander sitting in the top hatch!Jagdplastic wrote:Thanks everyone for the info. 'Sorry to hear it has no crew, but if the Normandy camo version doesn't show soon I may have to drive to Goldsboro to get one.
I did come across the BoB figures and some of the Marines in the Fuquay-Varina WM though, so I got one of the German tankers in field gray.

Norfolk, Va. Janaf WalMart has nadda in 1:18 or 1:32!
But, today I went to Virginia Beach Princess Anne Rd. Wal-Mart. They must have restocked recently, they have added some new WC57 Dodge Command Cars w/ two figures and WC63 1-1/2 ton Dodge Weopons Carrier w/Driver. They also had quite a few S1 and S2 Marines and some winter troops too! Had a nice selection of 1:32 planes also, probably 5 different ones!
No Deals though!

I was out in that mess....and it wasn't pleasant. Went out looking for some gifts and XD/bbi along the way - found NOTHING. Gifts I wanted had already sold out, NO new XD or bbi at four Wallys and two TrU's. A couple of bbi WWII figs at one store, but I think that is the remains of a case that was there a couple of weeks ago. Still have most, if not all the P-51's that have been there for at least two months. In fact, I've given up on looking for the XD Japanese. It's been months now, I've checked at least one or two Wallys weekly, and never seen one figure. If I come across any in my regular shopping, great (even though I seldom go to Wally for any other reason), but I'm not making any more special trips. If the lack of product is a Wally distribution problem, you'd think they would make their best effort to get the products out for one of the most busy shpping days of the year.

I went out today because K-Mart had a BOGO on Star Wars figures and that actually made them less than average retail for once. Can't beat that, but the big rumor was KM's were getting the ill-fated "final 12" figures in for this sale so I did luck out and get myself pretty well caught up on Star Wars figures now. Yay me.
However, XD was a bust... I did note that the Marines that were once overflowing the pegs (S1) at this one WM were now down to having one peg bare and two that could use some filler. Perhaps we'll finally get some Battle of the Bulge S2 figures, or Japanese in? They had the Sahara figures the last time I was there so who knows.
The same planes were still sitting but the last halftrack was gone now too. Someone who likes XD must've been in doing some X-Mas shopping.
Target was the biggest nightmare but I expected as much since it's in the busier area. Wal-Mart was so-so, K-Mart stores I hit were out of the way so they weren't too bad at all. Had I known I wouldn't find anything outside the KM's I would've had a very short morning.
TRU I didn't even bother, it's a nightmare on a good day generally.

My wife and I ventured out in the fray today. Best Buy was wrapped around the building at 3:30AM - people had camped out there all night. There were bond fires and port-a-lets. Mass chaos. The desktop I was looking for had already been alotted to the first 20 folks in line.
Went to Office Depot and was 3rd in line!
Got my desktops ordered and paid for and was on my way!
The wife was even able to make a trip to Wally world while I waited inside the inner hallway of the Office Depot. The manager let us people standing in the 20 degree weather to come inside the inner hallway of his store. How nice is that??
Target wasn't too bad, but the wait to check out was looong!
While I was waiting with our cart as my wife tried to track down "fly wheels" for the nephew. I spied a group of FOV 1/32 planes for 9.99. I collect 1/18, but these 1/32 planes really looked nice. A Snake Stuka caught my eye.
Anyway, I am worn out today. Got up at freakin 2:30AM - did get some nice deals...(Call of Duty 2 for 24.95) I suppose it was worth it...

new
Well, for the first time ever the wal-mart by me had some XD. There has always been these three FW-190's for about a year and a half now, but they will never sell because the boxes are completly destroyed and I think even have mold on them.
Also they are still $40 a piece. Does anyone know if you get them marked down? A long time ago they has P-40's for $10 a piece, but never these. Anyway, they finally got some new marines, which I picked up. Thats about it, but at least its a start.

Re: new
I was once told, it was up to the Toy Manager of the WalMart when and how much they are marked down! But, they will usually give you a whole 10% off if you bring any deffects with the product (torn box, etc.) to their attention at checkout!Nimitz wrote:Does anyone know if you get them marked down?

I scouted all the Wallyworlds north of Fort Worth and Dallas yesterday. The Denton Walmart had lots of open and closed BOB
Germans as well as the Sahara figures. The Walmart on hwy 121 at The Colony had the pegs full of Japanese Infantry and they had plenty of the coed Shermans,German and American halftracks, and the M-41s. Most of the small towns north of the metroplex did not have much to offer.

I'm a legend in my own mind.

They started appearing recently, within the last month or two, I think. The US figures are the same, but the German soldiers have dark grey helmets instead of the original white, and the tankers now come in two different camo schemes; one is a re-release of the Panzer IV version, and the other comes in a new dark green scheme.
