Would this work for WWII German High ranking officer.......
Hi all,
I`m thinking of doing a Staff car for a General for the Germans.
Would this car work?

Thank`s

I doubt it...the SJ Duesenberg was a limited-run (about 500 or so) American sportscar/racecar that was out of production by 1937. It's a stretch that a German general would be driving around in a occupied country in it.
However, maybe you could invent a scenario like this: A German general that is a car nut got a Duesenberg from a rich fellow car nut in one of the occupied countries, so he confiscated it.
Then again, this is a high performance car of its day, so he'll probably wouldn't want his corporal driver driving it, fearing he would crash it. Also, the General would probably not feel right driving a luxury car in front of his men. Most pics of German generals show them riding in Volkswagens, kubelwagens, Schwimmwagens, recon cars, and even half-tracks. Even the Hitler only drives around in a modified Volkswagen.
But after saying all of that, that car looks right for the era, so you can use it, if you don't mind the historical aspects of it.

Thank`s guys & Thank`s Tom for the vote of confidence.
I`m not really a car nut so i had no idea where the actual car originated from, hense my question.
Though with some slight bonnet work mmmmm turn it into a quasie Merc maybe?
If I kept it as is,Oh i bet there would be some High ranker who`d have had one shipped over before the war. After all we all know what Generals are like for being different.
I think i will than & again thank`s for letting me know the origins of the actual car too

Yes there's a 1/18 Horsch that's out now. It is a convertible too. It was on E-bay this last week and had a few 21C S1 figures displayed with it. It's a good looking model. Not sure who made it though.
Just recently "Signature Models" came out with a 1/18 (1938 or 1937) Mercedes Benz 770K. It was the preferred limo of the Germans during WW2. It comes in two color options, light grey and black. This is not a convertible though. Check it out.

Yea i recall the one on ebay with the XD figures, that was very nice & a lot more pricey to the one i`m watching.
Though the link to the hard roof version looks great too.Though an open top would be great.
I may still get the one i`m thinking of though keep an eye out for the other convertable one,as that did look better.
Again cheer`s guys
