Cancelling a transaction on e-bay???

Has anyone ever had to cancel an auction on e-bay?
I just sold a 1/32 Corsair & some guy jumped in at the last second from the Czech Republic & won
I had it clearly marked in the description that I wouldn't ship overseas!!
Do I need his permission to cancel the sale or make a 2nd chance offer?
I know how e-bay protects buyers over sellers,,,,but this really makes me mad. The 2nd place buyer was only $1 lower & here in the good 'ole USA.

I hardly ever sell on e-bay, I usually just buy, so any advice is appreciated.

It's pretty easy.

In your 'my ebay' section, under sold items, click on the drop down menu on the right and choose 'resolve a problem'.

The option to send a cancel request will be given.

First i would send a polite note to the buyer, explaining you do not ship outside the US. And include the same note with the actual cancellation request.

If the buyer agrees to it you're off the hook. If he clicks 'no', then you could open an Unpaid Item Dispute after 4 days, to get your fees back, or contact ebay customer service and ask them what to do, they may cancel it on the spot, since you state you do not ship overseas.

If the buyer does nothing, which is most likely, after 8 days you can close the cancel transaction case and get your fees back.

Be aware the buyer can leave feedback, even if the sale is cancelled, so be polite in any correspondence. If the buyer does not respond to the cancel transaction case at all, but leaves feedback later, it will be removed. Otherwise it will stick.

You could just ship it to him. If he has decent amount of feedback, you're probably fine. Shipping something that size won't be overly expensive or much effort.

Hey Bob,

Tell or ask him first. I got into trouble by not waiting for the cancellation of my auctions and the jerk got me with negative feedback.

Depending on the country, I'll ship to buyers, but in regards to Russia, or the Czec...

USPS Priority... Russian Mafia usually picks these up and charges 100$ duty fee's to the buyer, then it either gets lost, or never updated tracking and you lose

USPS Express.. way more expensive, but goes through a different carrier in Russia, never had a problem.


FedEx express International... if they ship there, this is the best, yet most expensive.


These are all true btw, I've shipped probably 100 boxed to both countries.

-EXACTLY why I won't ship overseas, especially Russia, etc..
I sent the person 2 messages advising that I don't ship foreign & asking him for a reply.........NOTHING, no trying to pay, nothing.
-I went ahead & opened a "case" asking to cancel the auction based on not shipping to a foreign country.
-I guess he's got 7 days to respond or consent to the cancellation.
-Still no reply.
-After that I can try a 2nd chance offer or re-list.
-I already contacted the 2nd place buyer & he's still interested,,, so we'll see what happens.

Sorry to hear about your trouble Bob. I finally just went into my Ebay preferences and blocked bidders from outside the US and Canada. It took a little doing, but was worth the effort. If you Google it there are directions out there.
