I met a man at a Halloween party last Saturday, he was complimenting me on my costume which had alot of Air Force surplus on it. I asked him what he did and he told me he was a retired A-10 Pilot. Since I was on KC-135's we had a couple of interesting stories to tell about refueling over the ocean. They always had to fly at thier highest speed and we had to go at our slowest just so they could keep up with us. I asked him if he liked the A-10, he said it was his favorite aircraft of all time and no pilot he knew would ever trade it for another. Not because they didn't like the others but because he said the A-10 was a pilots airplane. You just didn't go up and orbit or get directed by Awacs on what to do where to go with the Autopilot doing most of the work. You were constantly flying at low-level on your own, watching and selecting your targets watching the ground. It was a great responsive aircraft that you felt was actually part of you, rather then you being part of it.

jericho I assume you already read that BBI announced a 1/18 A-10 @fall toyfair(heard via figures.com) for release in fall 06, and that the stryofoam one there was indeed a placeholder! So I was right!

Well gentlemen thats 1 down, 3 more to go?(TOMCAT, Phantom, Crusader?)

I am excited!!! The plane is so unique and awesome, truly 1 of a kind, I will gladly add it to my potential future collection!
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

Well the toy companies (at least BBI) listened to you all again! I don't think I'll add that one to my collection (considering its size) but it should be a cool release nonetheless! Perhaps we can look forward to a 1:18 F-15 or F-14 in 2007. 21c had better counter now with a 1:18 F-4 Phantom.

JeffSaylor wrote:Howdy ho, Jeff Saylor, editor for www.Figures.com. I just wanted to further clarify this A-10 situation for you all. I didn't say YES. The Fall Toy Show, as Mike pointed out, is simply a preview to retailers, often used to gauge retailer response . All items on display are NOT set in stone for release. The A-10 mock-up on display being a firm testament to that. I wish now that I was much more clearer in my post because I'm certainly not here to step on bbi's toes or to get fan boys dreams too high on an A-10.

Final word: bbi has TENTATIVE PLANS to make one. TENTATIVE meaning may or may not happen. You'll all know soon enough in 2006 when the official confirmation from bbi is sent out.

If nothing else, my post alerted you all that bbi listens to fans and wants to make one. This thread is a further indication of that fan support.
I wonder how the retailer's response was for a 1/18 scale A-10? Mike can you tell us that? Positive or Negative? We know BBI is listening to us and we deeply thank them. Just wonder which company, 21st or BBI, will go the extra step and produce the A-10 in 1/18 scale for us?

The Hunger Strike must go on!!!!

You should change this thread to: "We've changed the title of this thread so many times that we can't remember what it was originally about"....

Just got through watching "Shootout" on The History Channel. They had some good footage of A-10's knocking out ground targets supporting our troops in Afghanistan. Seeing that made my heart race and mind wonder to having on in 1/18 scale to fly air support for my ground forces.

Come on 21st or BBI...GIVE US A 1/18 SCALE A-10!!!!!!!!
