Re: Wings of Glory aircraft line!
You've got to do better than this....what are we checking WM for?
Is this the Ares Games 1/144 planes?

Re: Wings of Glory aircraft line!
1:48 scale (for now). Blue and Gold box art. 1st release is a red tail 51. You will recognize the tooling instantly. Looks like 2012 is starting off just as expected!

1:48? I can guarantee that my WM won't carry them. Gotta save that space for all the 1:12 hoopties with 90" rims.

Our WM's don't even carry Matchbox Skybusters or the Maisto planes anymore, still carry Matchbox cars and Maisto cars and motorcycles, just no aircraft. So I'm not gonna get excited about it if they don't show in my AO. Damn evil things with wings..

Just Google "Wings Of Glory Diecast" and you will find pictures of these models, which evidently, date back about 10 years and, frankly, are nothing to get excited about.
Re: Wings of Glory aircraft line!
which Google are you using?????? I see plenty of hits on each of those words, but where are the pics at?

Ed,
Zach is talking about an ALL NEW release from AllGo from what I gather...

Re: Wings of Glory aircraft line!
Same here man, they clearenced out all the Maisto aircraft and don't carry them anymore. The Skybusters Still seem to have a few pegs next to the MB cars with a few planes. I really liked the Maisto birds, do a little work on them and they look pretty sweet for the price. Plus they made some unusual planes that you never see anywhere else. Some of the Skybusters that are based on real planes are pretty nice as well. I got a Space Shuttle and Predator drone recently and they also made a really cool generic biplane and even a Cessna with floats.vmf214 wrote:WordRowsdower wrote:1:48? I'm not gonna hold my breath for these new planes to ever show at WM.

Except these are not diecast, they are plastic.Epap wrote:Just Google "Wings Of Glory Diecast" and you will find pictures of these models, which evidently, date back about 10 years and, frankly, are nothing to get excited about.

I wish Algo all the best but the days of me going on the walmart hunt are far over, especially for just a 1/48 offering. With gas prices what they are, I'll just pick one up on ebay, even with seller gouging and shipping it's a better deal then driving around looking for one.
Yep Rows, the Maisto stuff is pretty cool, especially the new Skycrane helo and the Marine One Blackhawk. I like how Matchbox bashes a couple planes together into one to get out of paying royalties to the aircraft manufacturers. They have the P-47/P51 bash, the racer which is basically a P51 with the wings backwards and the canopy set back, and the F-86/Mig-15 bash which is probably one of my favs.
Still, with my WM's dropping airplanes, about the only thing that interests me now is their $5 movie bin..

Re: Wings of Glory aircraft line!
This is a surprise. Good pick on the Redtail. Though I wish it was 1:32.
Not getting anything in a Google search either.
I'll check the Walmarts.
It's good Allgo (?) can get back in with the giant retailer again. Perhaps with a little more caution this time dealing with the devil.

Re: Wings of Glory aircraft line!
Oh man I love that Frankenstein Sabre/Mig! I didn't know that Matchbox was so slick, lol. I also managed to snatch up the Skycrane and Marine One before WM gave them the axe. Both are great little planes.vmf214 wrote:Epap wrote:Yep Rows, the Maisto stuff is pretty cool, especially the new Skycrane helo and the Marine One Blackhawk. And the Maisto planes were never peg-warmers in my AO. It was great to head on back and find a new plane or two on the pegs.

Re: Wings of Glory aircraft line!
Hi everyone. I have more time now to give just a couple more details. Last night was a blur playing dad taxi, going to retails movie, and scoring the new line at Walmart.
1. This is not an AllGo venture. It's a new player, BH toys.
2. Not the same management structure.
3. This is a retail test to see how well historical planes can do at Walmart.
4. There is new management at Walmart and they desire to have unique product offerings = unique to them.
5. Due to price points and testing limitations the 9.99 for 1:48 was ideal!
6. If these sell well more scales, new molds are to be expected.
7. I know this management group at BH toys. They are good people and hope nothing but the best for this hobby while supported by a mass retailer.
8. Red tails scheme seems pretty timely!
I would think that in anyone's book this is nothing but potentially great news! Otherwise what is better? We know what no mass support looks like... Been a dry 3-4 years right?

And if this is just a market test, its a good possibility that these will only show up in limited areas and in limited amounts.

So far I'm 0 for 2 Walmarts here in orange county. 1 to go... no luck at all. Can you post a photo of the box?

Well, this has definitely caught my attention but we really needs some pics. I'm not going to scour all the WalMarts in the area without pics. I googled my head off and found nothing but tiny gaming planes and old video games.
