Don't forget that a lot of Model 22's were painted green. The bbi one looks like it's based on a Dragon paint scheme of a Model 22 (It's the first one):

Ah yes. Thanks for the info! Many of the same fighters were land based as well, so that woud necessitate the green scheme. I just more often associate it with the Type 52.

Unit numbers on the fin and rudder were standard during the Pacific war. The prefix which denotes the unit operating the aircraft initially consisted of 1 or two Japanese charecters for units based in either Japan or Korea. A European letter for land based units in a combat zone, and a European letter followed by a numeral for carrier based units. The three numerals following, the first indicated the mission assigned to the aircraft e.g. 1= fighter. 8=reconnaissance and so on. The last two digits identified the aircraft in that particular unit and mission.

Hey, I finally got my copy of the Final Countdown! Boy, that movie is still really good after all of these years. The air-to-air is still some of the best footage ever. Now we need that F-14 to complete the picture..........

Final Countdown is a great movie because it's realistically done, pretty well acted, not too gung ho etc. It's a fun, sci fi-ish movie, with some interesting historical references and twists. If it were done today it would be a special effects fiasco (like the movie Pearl Harbor was to Tora, Tora, Tora).

but then again, they make fighter plane movies like "Stealth"...

i have that movie on beta, vhs, and 2 dvds
they could never make that movie as good as first one
computer F-14s would never look as good as real things

With its combination of Sci-Fi style and truly superb aviation segments that movie has held a special place for me from the moment I first saw it. I won't admit how much I paid for a rental VHS copy before it was ever released on dvd.

I hope you guys got to see the "SuperDuperDeluxeLimitedEdition" dvd version that had the relatively recent interview with the guys of VF-86 who actually flew in the movie. Knowing some of the details of what actually went on back then to pull a movie like this off (by those that did it) was/is nearly priceless.

i have a 54 inch HD TV with super 600w stereo sound, when that F-14 stalls and falls a few feet it sounds and looks great!

When I got home tonight, I found my new Zero on the porch. While putting this thing together I noticed that the pilot has two left feet. Literally! Other than that, it's a real nice model.
When I ordered the first two F/A-18's last year, both of them had two right hands. Has anyone noticed this with their models?

i guess i've been lucky
had some scratches and broken details, but glue and airbrushes fix them up.
plus i replace all gun barrels with brass or aluminum tubing

Sounds like your pilot has a birth defect. Was his plane modified with 2 left pedals also?
I inspected my pilot closely also and it appears that mine is an "alternate lifestylist". He's wearing a green thong

I had two left horizontal stabilizers with my plane, but BCA sent me a new right one. Nothing wrong with my pilot.
