This is pleasing.

The alternative was EU Bailout money buying German leopards, something which wouldn't have sat well with other EU states, particularly the UK.

This way everyone gets what they want.

Greece has something to face the Altay.

Turkey has the Altay on the way and frankly won't be worried about these old tired M1A1's.

Thus stabilising Greek/Turkish relations.

No one looses out on cash (EU/Germany etc).

The only looser in the deal is the US, although these tanks where never going to be modernised and where costing money in maintenance and restoration. Plus, the US can sell parts/upgrades etc to Greece.

A fair assessment?
