My Stuka Dive Bomber

Post by Karl Dak » Sat Nov 26, 2011 7:50 am

Hey all. This isn't actually a mod, but more of a set of images with photo-edited backdrops of my 1/18th scale Stuka Dive Bomber.

Upon seeing this listed on Ebay several months ago, I did some research and could not seem to find much information, nor images, of this particular desert snake camo paint scheme (in 1/18th scale). I thought I would share here with one new image of the Stuka in B&W.

They look great Karl! My only critique would be to have the plane at a more even level so that it no longer looks like it is about to crash into the sand.

Thanks for the feedback fellas.

I was shooting for the "dive bomber effect". Seriously, I had not even considered the positioning when I took the shot on the kitchen counter. It was a tough item to photograph because of its size.

tmanthegreat: I'll have to look at some of those promo pix. I wasn't collecting back when these were available and don't remember the ads. Will have to do some searches.

To me, the plane is still too far angled on its Z axis even for a diving run. Also, next time have the background consist of more sky and less ground because at the elevation in the photos the auto pilot would have already leveled the plane.

The photos are great, don't get me wrong, just they could be even better.

Not a problem B17. I understand what you're saying. Appreciate the feedback. Maybe next airplane shot, I'll watch the angle. These images take me a while to cut from their original background and I probably won't revisit this Stuka. I'm looking at some American planes but they are certainly $$$ on Ebay.

Agreed. I was in the same situation a few weeks ago when I was looking for a Stuka, but YT hooked me up with one that was within my budget!

Trust me, it is worth waiting the six months to be able to buy/sell/trade with the forum members.
