Dragon Armor 1:72 Late War Panther

Post by PAK38 » Wed Nov 09, 2011 8:22 pm

I've been waiting for this little beauty to show up. We don't see many very late war paint schemes.

About f*cking time they released a panther. Steel wheels are interesting as well. I think dragon released a panther f that looked similiar to that panther. I also see on dragon's website that they plan on releasing 2 normandy tigers. One of the tigers, number 205, is the one that wittman arrived in normandy in. :D

Surprisingly, Dragon has only released the one Panther F as you mentioned. I would love to see a new F version with this late war scheme.

woulld have liked a sw panther from KG Peiper Dec.44..but this one is a must for me.

the 3rd SS 101st tiger(non Cyber Hobby release) is also a nice looker.

That camo scheme is fashioned after that of the MNH factory. The problem is that they never built steel wheel Panthers, all of those came out of the MAN factory and had a totally different camo scheme. Another problem is the exhausts as the full steel wheelers were built prior to the introduction of the large Flammenvernichter exhausts. Finally, as all of the steel wheel Panthers were built in September 1944, it is very doubtful that any were operational by the battle of Berlin.

only about 2 dozen steel wheelers were built..1/Pz Rgt.24 and 1.SS Panzer Rgt have proof of them.

pre-orders up for Pz V..hopefully the repaint will be here for Xmas, and not delayed like some of the new tools. The 2nd Tiger of SS.s.Pz Abt 101(#133) coming up should give ius a timeframe for a repaint to show.

Pretty excited for the panther and tigers. Although we might not see them for a long time, considering that dragon still has a lot of tanks to produce.

Great camo on Panther, but I would prefer just regular Panther G late, since Muncheberg/Kurmark have probably never used all steel wheelers.

Dragon also released an earlier Panther G with steel wheels, but without the side skirts - #60322

I like the first one with the striped scheme, and while it possibly may not have been carried by
a steel wheeler, at least other Panthers were painted in a similar way.

Not sure about this latest one. Perhaps looks a bit too 'busy' for the size of the model. IMO,
