Custom RC planes. IMG heavy

Post by flyboy_fx » Sat Oct 01, 2011 8:34 am

Well, here is what I have finished up! They are just some foam planes from Parkzone. I think they came out great for just being foam!!! :D
I think the spitfire and P47 came out the best!

The BF109 is not based after anyone. The markings are not of any plane. :P It came out okay...

The spitfire was flown by F/O Neville Duke 92Sqn QJ-3, Sicily 1943. The undersides are not perfect match to Azure blue. The blue I needed was out of stock so I tried mixing my own. Looks okay... :P

The P47 is of Francis Gabreski. If you don't know who he is you have problems.

There are a bagillion different takes on his scheme. I chose a dark sea green over green with light grey undersides. I think it looks good!!!
All the markings where made with cardstock stencils. You can not use masking tape on foam. :| It peels up the paint...
I also built some functioning inboard gear doors! They are too cool!!! 8)

Also note, these planes where all finished in the time span of like 3 days... :o I wanted to get them ready for an RC even but it seams it will be too windy. THe only day I could actually go and the wind picks up...
I am totally sleep deprived from staying up till 3-4 am working on planes, then waking up at 9:30 and repeating.

Look Great! Looking more like scale models than RCs. Get some scale pops and they could probably pass for real ones. Nice Work!

Can't wait to see these in flight, good thing I won't be at the controls otherwise all that work would be ruined in seconds

That's a lot of work accomplished in what sounds like three L-O-N-G days. Nice job!

Great work on the planes. The Gabreski P-47 looks awesome. I wish I could do work like this in a 3 day span.
