Mg,

errm... I think they've already got one foot in 1/32, the SBD Dauntless - 6 different schemes released so far

Are you referring to armor?

I've got the two 1/56 M1 Abrams and the 1/48 King Tiger. The Abrams is really impressive.

I still hope that FOV would remain in the 1/32 hobby. However, their releases this year was disappointing. :(

Well in that case I'd vote for a Merkava

but reckon a little too off the beaten track for Hobby Master 1/32

Does anyone know the reasoning behind the Hobby Master 1/56 venture? Was it a popular/common scale and why did they stop producing more? Missed out on those abrams and only have a single tiger in that scale from them, still in box.

The 1/48 King Tigers were excellent but that KT, JS-2 and the Shermans line has gone cold. Wonder if the molds are shot?

GOUCHY:

I asked about the 1/56 line on another message board. The resident expert said they didn't sell well. I think 1/56 is too small for a tank---but HM's Abrams is really impressive.

Dragon,

1/56 too small? Not for me, I'm happy even with 1/72 tanks.

It probably didn't sell well as its an unusual scale. When they first released these, they were still a fledgling company building their international fanbase. Now the world knows them as a force to be reckoned with for quality diecasts. Might be a different ball game now for a re-release.

Anyhow, it's still is rare to find them on ebay these days reasonable prices (with intl shipping), really regret snoozing on the abrams

* I doubt All-Go will be doing any armor at all , if any , it won't be for quite some time. I think their main focus is AC .

......... That being said , like I mentioned before , the 1:32 scale market is still pretty much WIDE OPEN ! ! ! ... Somebody's got to take over , so why not HM ? ... FoV is not producing & selling not near enough the volume that they used to. 2-3 subjects a year , if that , w/ re-paints. That's not enough to satisfy any FoV fan , let alone any collector. They've done nothing but frustrate their fan base.

* HM on the other hand , does listen. They want to know what the collector wants. This of course is good for dealers too , as far as $ales. It's only a matter of time before HM starts cranking out some exotic & unique examples in this scale.

GOUCHY:

I have two Hobby Master 1/72 tanks, the M24 Chaffee and the M46 Patton. The Patton is a very nice tank, but for me, 1/72 is too small.....especially compared to my FOV 1/16 tanks.

I'm currently looking for HM's 1/48 King Tiger-Dollinger and the 1/48 Sherman-Doris to add to my North Carolina collection which includes the two Abrams.

About two years ago, I suggested to HM an M551 Sheridan---but I don't think they will because of the limited repaint possibilities.

Well I sent them an email voicing my opinion on the matter. I always feel like I need to have some business charts and statistics with well researched cost-benefit analysis when speaking with a manufacturer to actually get any real response but we'll see if HM is different and actually acts based on what we're all saying.

One can only hope...

I wonder if Hobby Master has ever considered branching out to plastic injection molding?
The die cast and plastic injection process is similar from what I've read, but maybe would result in a less expensive product and would weigh a heck of a lot less.

They could give BBI and FOV a run for their money in 1:32 if they produced models at a lower price.

I liked the combination of both die cast and injection molded plastic when 21stC used to have the "cold steel" extreme detail vehicles in 1:32. In many cases the plastic seems to have more sharp detail than die cast. This I have also seen in plastic plane models vs diecast.

Was hoping for aircraft, as their Dauntless is very nice.
