Re: Bovington Tank Museum
Thanks for the link! I wish I could go there some time. My local museum of the regiments just has a churchill, a sherman, a bren carrier, a cougar, a T-72 and 2 other tanks. What I would give to see a King Tiger in person!

Re: Bovington Tank Museum
I had a dream last night that my wife and I were visiting England, and while we were at the Imperial War Museum in London, all I could think about was getting over to the Bovington Tank Museum!

Re: Bovington Tank Museum
Haven't made it to Bovington yet, though I've been to the Imperial War Museum more times than I can count (I lived in England for a while several years back). Its simply awesome! Fully restored tanks, airplanes, rockets, artillery... I could go on

The pic above was one of my photos looking into the main gallery from the entrance - what you don't see are the several dozen tanks and AFVs on the ground floor
The museum obviously has a British twist to it and a heavy dosage of WWI and WWII era ehxibits.
There's really no American museum equivalent celebrating our country's military past smack in the middle of our national capital, which is unfortunant - it would upset the liberals too much

Re: Bovington Tank Museum
Welcome to my second home...
As you can see from the photos, if you're interested in tanks and are in the UK then this is the place to go. (try and avoid school holidays though)
Ideal for me as it's just down the road, and I have a twelve month return free pass.
I haven't been to the IWM for years, but as I recall, one of the vehicles they have is a Jagdpanther knocked out in Normandy, with several penetrations to it's side armour.
