Von Werras BF109E
Just a repaint of a stock BF109E in 1/18 scale by 21st century toys.
Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 of Gruppenstab II./JG3 flown by the Gruppenadjutant, Oblt. Franz von Werra.
The Bf 109E-4, Werk Number 1480, flown by Oblt. Franz von Werra of JG3 which crash landed at Winchet Hill, Marden, Kent on the morning of the 5th of September, 1940. Finished in a high demarcation 02/71 splinter pattern there was no discernible mottling applied to either the fin or fuselage sides. The tips of the main wings and the whole of the rudder were painted white, the black-green spinner had two white segments, and the black and white shield of II./JG3 was carried beneath the windscreen on both sides of the aircraft.
Von Werra's Bf 109E, already damaged during a morning freie Jagd over Kent, was again attacked by P/O B.G. Stapleton of 603Sqn forcing him to land his crippled fighter at Love's Farm, Marden, Kent. Taken into captivity and eventually transported to Canada for internment in a PoW camp, von Werra was able to escape to the USA and eventually returned to active duty before being killed on 25 October 1941.

Good job dude!! I was thinking of doing that one also someday! Very cool! Did you mask the factory decals or did you have customs made?

It was a Galland so I just masked what I needed. I did paint the emblem though.Jnewboy wrote:Good job dude!! I was thinking of doing that one also someday! Very cool! Did you mask the factory decals or did you have customs made?

Yea, I thought it looked familiar! you did a great job! does anyone know why 21st cen painted that flap on the wing all green instead of following the camo splinter pattern? it always bugged me, its on all the galland 109s

Are you saying that Gallands 109s left flap was painted like that? and did not follow the pattern? I always figured it was an error on the part of 21st Century.flyboy_fx wrote:That's the way it is... THe left flap? I also painted mine as you can see that way.

Re: Von Werras BF109E
I think it was standard for BF109Es. YOu see it alot in real life.
I have seen just as many with the left flap fully painted as Ive seen where the camo continues.
It seams that they paint the left flap with the certain pattern of camo I painted.
