I dont really care much for Vietnam era crap but I do love the movie "Apocalypse now"
I love the scene when the air cav is blowing up that village while listening to "The Ride of the Valkyries" I have always wanted to do a custom Huey as seen in that movie with the sabers on the front and the surf boards slung on the sides. Has anyone seen anything close to this? any pointers?

I think that would be a very fine custom. For folks of my advanced age, that scene was iconic ...

The 21c Huey is the early UH-1C "short-body" version whereas the ones in the film were later-models with the extended body. Still, unless you plan to do a major overall and retooling to convert the 21c Huey into a later model, it is the best thing you have to work with.
21c did make a 1st Air Cavalry Huey "slick". This was their S2 or S3 version of the Huey and is really one of the best. The grenade launcher was deleted from the nose and it came with a full crew of two pilots and two gunners/crew chiefs. Its a rare bird to track down, particularly boxed and with the full crew. The helicopter does have the crossed swords on the front as you can just make out in the second picture below.

That would be a cool custom.
Even better if you could have a Col. Killgore figure in the Huey.

That would be a must!!
I was even thinking possible diorama of it landed and him out there bent down saying the classic lines:
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
[kneels]
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like
[sniffing, pondering]
Kilgore: victory. Someday this war's gonna end...
[suddenly walks off]
