Ok, looks like someone just had a bigger wallet, but I would be careful if he starts offering second chances to the 3rd or 4th bidder.

It does look unbelievable, but, is it really rigged? Recently, I have been seeing people paying $100+ for some Dragon WW2 German half-tracks. Maybe this is just a “bubble.”

If those people are all involved in the “rigging,” they have done lots selling and buying on Ebay. Also, if nobody else buys the allegedly sold half track, the seller is out $10 for the Ebay fee. Considering that the maximum market price for a half-track (in my opinion), is $30, you are risking a lot for a little return.

I am certainly not disputing wether this was rigged or not. But, I am wondering if I were the seller, would I risk $10 loss for $30 half track?

Probably shouldn't have used the word "rigged" b/c it's a strong word. Just wondering why anybody would buy a halftrack for $100.99 when it can be found at motorpool, aikens,etc.?

I did a quick search on the internet, and I cannot find any vendor selling 60139.

As crazy as I think it is, I am beginning to lean towards that the auction was legit. People are actually buying this half-track for more that I thought. In Europe, one was sold for $45 and another one for $65. And, I do remember that recently 60140 (Rivetted Version) was sold for more than $100 on Ebay.

Dug up some of my old reciepts and found that I bought mine for $17.95 at aikens. Didn't think it was a likely candidate considering it is just a halftrack with a machine gun. It wasn't one of the early "rare" dragon armor as well. If it's legit then WOW.

I don't think it is any crazier than the people that bought the first release Wittmann Tiger for $250..

Maybe it's listed international. That does make a difference if it is no longer available online retail. Many will not ship worldwide and international shipping is the exception rather than the rule.

Though it is hard to believe when you look at the completed auction and you see the very same item below it in multiples at reasonable prices.

They call that shilling when you get others to bid on it to raise the price, but who knows?

Could have been a worldwide bidder that really wanted it and couldn't get it anywhere else.

Remember the member from a few years ago who was paying $50 each for a ton of 1/18 figures on ebay. The auctions weren't rigged. He admitted on this site that was what he was paying for them.
