Corsair at Amazon

Post by JimBob55 » Sun Oct 02, 2005 3:38 pm

Thanks for the lead for the Corsair at Amazon. I was going to order some books anyway, and I couldn't pass up the Corsair at that price. Everybody has been giving the BBI Corsair good reviews anyway. That makes five Corsairs for me . Two or three are going to be repaints (when I can get to them). Plan to share pictures when I do.

Thanks again...
JimBob

BTW- ordered the book "Samurai" by Saburo Sakai in honor of the Zero I ordered.

Swapped out my bbi P-51 and bbi Corsair on the desk. I have got to say once again that the bbi Corsair is the most beautiful plane done in 1:18, period. With that said, the flaps SUCK!!!!!!! Man they piss me off. You can't position them without 2 of them falling off or sitting at a 90 degree position. ARRRGGHH!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for going off like that. I know I complained about the flaps before, but every time I touch the Corsair, those damn flaps fall all over and I can't deal with keeping them retracted. It just looks so damn good with the flaps down.....

BBI Corsair

Post by JimBob55 » Mon Oct 10, 2005 11:29 pm

I just got my BBI Corsair the other day. I agree, the overall detail is fantastic! One thing that particularly impresses me is the thin canopy plastic. It is about as half a thick as the 21C version and it looks much better. I also love/hate the flaps :x... I love the flaps-down look, but they are hard to keep in the right location. I'm afraid that I'll just need to glue them in place. ( I have four other 'clean' 21c Corsairs anyway) I'm setting them up at the 30-degree takeoff position. Also the rudder a bit right (for engine torque) and the elevators a bit up.

TRU raised prices on Corsair

Post by markecho » Mon Nov 28, 2005 8:33 pm

Just wondering if other TRUs around the country have raised their prices on BBI aircraft? Went by my local TRU (Tustin) and saw the BBI corsair for $45 !!?? :?

Is this due to the fact that online retailers have higher prices? Or they are trying to make some money on the X-mas crowd (since it used to be $40)...or a mistake? Although the post a few above has it on amazon for $45 also...

curious....
It is the dang toy companies that have sometimes made me want to stop collecting toys!!!

Think it might be the second one. I noticed they recently raised the price on the mid-size Star Wars vehicles from $19.99 to $22.99. I hate it when they pull crap like that.

Corsair tail wheel?

Post by parrish333 » Sun Dec 25, 2005 5:10 pm

Just got the BBI Corsair for Christmas! A long wait for it, but a great plane overall I think.

My one gripe/question: does the tail wheel lock into place at all? Mine sure doesn't seem to; makes it impossible to have with the gear down on the ground.

It is a great plane! The tail wheel does lock. You pull it down and then it should click into place with a little application of force. I was actually pleased with the tail wheel on mine, since it locked tightly and stayed extended far better than the tail wheel on my 21c Corsair.

Interesting, the tailwheel on the 21st Corsair locks tighter than the bbi version. You sure you locked it in? It takes a bit of force to lock the 21st tailwheel....

Thanks for the tip --- I was hoping that was the case but I didn't want to apply too much force and snap it, making a bad situation worse :) I'll give it a go when I get home tonight.
