Thanks guys for the kind remarks so far.
I spent all day working on stuff that will never be seen but are very important.
The way I have built the wings they are tight and hold firm without a set screw for the brass main spare. After the first batches come out we shall see if it needs a screw to keep the wing fastened.
I wraped the center section with balsa sheeting and I should have the wings wrapped as well.
After wrapping the bottom of the wings I should be done with the wood phase of the build . After this is done it will be time to switch to the plastic phase.

Sounds Great Pickel! This is going to be the coolest 1:18 aircraft ever!!!! You should see if you could sell these at the Smithsonian's museums stores. http://www.nasm.si.edu/visit/concessions/shops.cfm

Order away !!!
I am not sure of the museum idea.
I was going to sell my wares here in D-day Museum but that did not work out.
They were happy for me to set up but ... everything they sell is DOUBLE THE PRICE WHAT THEY PAY FOR THE ITEM
They only wanted full build items that would have cost $600 +. Who would pay those prices ?
So I backed out of the deal.

wow, it's too bad there isn't some way of psuedo mass producing these things more inexpensively. You'd have a huge market for them.

I spent all day Monday sanding and sanding to accept the sheet styrene.
Well she is all wrapped !!! I need to do more sanding before I get a shot of primer on it.
Hopefully I will get this done on Wends.
The wood work is done !!!!

It looks great!! I am so happy I started this fire!!!
These 1/18 custom planes are the way to go with your talents PH
Unlike 1/18 armor there isn't any real scale competition like 1/16 vs 1/18
I think people like myself will be more likely to continue building their 1/18 aviation collections as there is just nothing else like it!
Keep doing planes PH!!!
(and hey... they don't even need tracks )

Thanks guys
I have some semi progress pics.
It is hard to believe but this is 8 hrs of work
The pods have been sliced and diced turn upside down and sanded sanded sanded.
Here they are roughed in . I used white primer to make the pencil lines more visable when it comes time to cutting.
