Model contest

Post by mondaytanker » Mon Oct 03, 2005 5:35 am

This weekend I entered my 1/16 scale Tamiya M4A3E8 Sherman in the Hobbytown USA annual model contest. I took second place in the Adult military, all scales, class. I was up against some pretty stiff competition. The first place winner also took best of show with a 1/35 scale German rail gun, Leopold.

I brought, but did not enter, my Tiger I and M-26 Pershing. Both are equipped with the infrared battle units. While waiting for the voting results, myself and another modeler performed a demonstration on RC tank battles. This drew quite a crowd. I received a ton of "Those things are so cool!" comments.

Overall it was a great experience. It was a great confidence booster to receive so much praise for the work I had done from fellow modelers. Next year I will have to try a little harder. I will do more super detailing to the Sherman and install the Aber photo etch kit to my Tiger I and enter it as well.

I will have to try and post some pics later. Since web shots took a crap.

The 1/35 Leopold must have been something (though as i`ve seen them I can imagine it was).

I remember all the contests i used to enter with 25mm figures in the UK.

Anybody who has visited Aberdeen PG will remember Anzio Annie, the big German rail gun and it's companion Atomic Annie the big US gun.

Not something you forget, especially when you think about the poor guys on the receiving end of Anzio Annie......
