Just Arrived: A Hachette Rufe

Post by Epap » Fri Feb 11, 2011 8:44 am

Since much of the discussion recently regarding the new Warmaster line centered on the Rufe, I thought the members might like to see my 1:87th scale diecast model of the same bird, made for the Hachette Collections Japan series, that just arrived. Here's a view from the upper left:

And, for scale comparisons purposes, here's is a shot of the Hachette Rufe in 1:87th and a Corgi Zero repaint in 1:72nd:

Cool! Not a whole bunch of difference in size. Anybody ever make one in 1:72 prebuilt? I know the low budget looking Warmaster is inaccurate. A Zero with Floats.

I wish somebody would make a Rufe in 1:32.
Even a model kit would be nice.

Thanks, AG.

These models are sold primarily in Japan via bookstores, either individually or by subscription to the whole line. A few are currently being offered on eBay, including a Tojo, but this is a rare event. I get mine by ordering through the Kinokuniya bookstore chain's San Francisco branch. I doubt that the early releases are available, however you might be able to get the Rufe, which is Volume 34, and the upcoming Jake ( Vol. 37 ) if you move quickly. The typical price is about $45 per model, plus shipping. If you contact the Kinokuniya store, mentioned above, ask for Mr. Sakai. He is familiar with this line.

Thanks for posting this, Ed.

The Hachette version looks much better. It is an interesting line, and scale, and as you say, basically just for the Japanese home market.

I know you, and a few others are big fans of this line. Thanks also for the link to getting these in the States. And they do a very impressive amount of Japanese aircraft that nobody else does.
