Wings of War Aircraft
Greetings
Anyone play the Wings of War game and have the corresponding small scale aircraft. I noticed there are a wide variety of aircraft available. For anyone that is into these, have a few questions for you
1.) What are the actual size of the planes
2.) Can the planes be displayed without the display base?
3.) Is there a complete list of the aircraft that have been made?
4.) What is the quality of the planes? Paint? Fit? etc
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Corey

Re: Wings of War Aircraft
This article says they are 1/144. http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_ ... =2&esum=65 That's the WWI planes at least.
So that's inline with a lot of other miniatures like the 21st planes.
Looks like there's a WWI series and two WWII series so far.
I was looking on ebay though and it looks like the cockpit canopies on the WWII aren't painted properly. The sets are pricey though.
Not sure about removing them from their bases.

Re: Wings of War Aircraft
I collect the WWI planes. They are 144 scale and wonderful, with fine details and paint jobs.
The WW2 planes are 200 scale, though many players use 144 scale planes due to how common they are.
The game is very easy to learn and very fun, and can be played with just the cards that come in the game boxes.
The planes can be displayed without the stands and look great.
The best fan site is http://www.wingsofwar.org
All the planes ever made for the game still get reprinted.

EnemyAce,
I would really only be interested in the mini aircraft.
Is there an easy place to find the whole list of aircraft they have made up to this point? The site you posted was helpful, but I couldn't find anything about which aircraft were in what series, etc.
Thanks for replying!

Well, I know many dealers show all 4 series of WWI and 2 series of WWII on their sites, so you can scroll through there. These are all the miniatures so far with pictures:

Boardgamegeek.com has a list of all aircraft by series (no pics) under Wings of War Miniatures game listing.

Re: Wings of War Aircraft
A late response on this thread, but I've seen these in person at my local Hobbytown USA store. They had a selection of the WWI and some WWII aircraft here about 2-3 weeks ago when I was last there. The WWI planes looked pretty good for the most part and they had a really neat selection of fighters and bombers. I'm not sure it was the whole selection and as I'm no expert on the whole variety of Allied and Central Powers WWI fighters and bombers, so I can't say what all was there... The planes were quite expensive for the size: the store had them priced at about $15 to $18 per aircraft... Guess I'm still jaded by the $2 21c 1:144 planes

Re: Wings of War Aircraft
Looks to me like there's only 8 distinct aircraft with some variations thrown in to make 13 "different" planes.

Tmanthegreat:
The price of these is what turns me off of them as well. That much for something this small is a little steep. I've also noticed some of the online retailers and ebayers that carry them charge even more. That's a hard price to pay for something this small.
They look neat but at that price I will pass. There are other makers of small scale planes in that size that are a lot more reasonable. I just picked up two Corgi Showcase Fokkers from a seller in the UK and even with shipping, it didn't come out to what one of these costs. So again, not in my budget
They look neat though, will always keep an eye open on Ebay for an affordable lot if they would come up.
