Based on the figs that I have, I'd have to say that the troopers look like very small 32X guys. The tanks look nice too but I think that they could've done some more detailing to them. Like painting the tools and stuff. I'm still satisfied with them.

MK stuff got better looking as they went on. Rebellion figs looked like sh*t but the Dragon's Gate figs looked really nice. The 2.0 figs looked nice too but I quit at that point.

I finally got to play against someone other than myself on Thursday. After I BARELY lost at A&A: D-Day (couldn't take Cherbourg) we played two games of the scenario that was in Scrye - I kicked his butt both times!! Two games in under 35 minutes. Ha!!!

I went to a FLGS and the owner gave me a FREE AAM Lee tank w/card after buying some Anachronism cards. Until they other stuff arrives, I have 90 points of U.S./British and 137 points of German/Japanese to game with. 8)

Hopefully the UPS man will drop off some boxes this coming Friday.

BTW, Avalon Hill has posted a two part Guadal Canal scenario.

'Ski, glad to hear that you're back safe. Did the reinforcements arrive? It's probably like Christmas at your house.

Well, today is the 16th. I'm hoping that we get another e-mail from GO with that long awaited tracking number.

Man, this has been a looooooong wait for the AAMs!!! I'm just like an impatient kid when it comes to this stuff.

Anybody else get their e-mail for GO?

C2000

p.s. Just checked my Yahoo mail - I GOT A TRACKING NUMBER!!!!! :D
They should be on my door step 9/20.

I read on the AH forums that this one guy bought 3 cases and did not get any duplicates of rares in each case. That's cool by me.

Hopefully with getting a case and a half that I'll get one of each and have a few to trade to you guys.

And Ski, not a problem. Too bad I couldn't get any of you guys some AMM samples from GENCON.

C'mon 9/20!!!!

I was intriqued by the early reports of the game on this board so that when the first sets arrived in a games shop near where I work in central London earlier today I decided to treat myself and purchased a base set plus two starters on my way home. I don't know about the game but I'm really impressed with the quality of the models themselves -particularly the tanks (even though they are n't 15mm)- the Panther is a very nice looking model. The earlier photos on some of the various sites did not do them justice. Must get some more!

Welcome to the collectible game madness, Graycap!!

Got the Panther, you lucky devil. What other rares did you get?

Some of our FLGS got their shipments yesterday. I was VERY temped to go and pick up a few boosters to tide me over until my stuff comes but I resisted. Plus paying $15 for each one was scary when gameoutfitters sells them for $9 each per case.

A long time friend went to The Soldiery and traded in some older wargames to get a starter and two boosters yesterday. He has a case coming too but broke down.

Must be patient, must be patient, must be patient...

I was sent on a mission yesterday to get the wife some Anachronism cards and a card box for a buddy that was coming from out of town to play Anachronism with us. My car, for some weird reason, made a weird rubbing sound and popped my tire!!! I asked the wife to use her's and then off I go to Ravenstone Games to complete my mission.

Once I got there, I saw the new AAM boosters hanging on the wall and started to sweat and shake. UPS has update their site and showed that my new AAMs were already in town and would probably be delivered on 9/19 instead of 9/20. I broke down and bought two boosters.

Here's the list, and in no particluar order, of what I got in them:

Commons -
MAS 7.5mm Rifle (French), Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 (Russian), SMLE No. 4 Rifle (British), Marines M2-2 Flamethrower (U.S.), Mortar M2 (U.S.), Light Mortar x2 (German), Panzerfaust (German), Fucile Modello 1891 (Italian), and 47mm Type 1 AT Gun (Japanese).

Uncommons -
Inspiring Lieutenant (British), Jeep (U.S.), M4A1 Sherman (U.S.), Red Devil Captain (U.S.), Panzer IV Ausf. G (German), and the Sd Kfz 222 (German).

Rares -
Churchill Crocodile (British), and the M4A3E8 Sherman "Easy Eight". 8)

Not a bad draw and there were 3 vehicles in each. So far, with the starter, 2 boosters, the GENCOM Type 92 MG teams (Japanese), and the free M3 Lee, I only have five doubles which are the German mortar teams, Red Devil Capt, Sherman, Pnzr IV and Jap MG team. I have 28 of the 48 different figures.

So, while my stupid car is in the shop getting fixed tomorrow for lots of money  I'll be at home when the UPS man shows up with my AAMs. 8)

Anyone else get a shipment notice from GO??? Kamikaze? Flammenpanzer? Teamski?

I found out what was wrong with the car - front springs blew up and killed my new tire. I guess the savings from GO just went into the car. It figures...

Wow, the 21st!! That's not far off, Flammenpanzer. Sweet!!

A buddy here in town ordered his the same time that I did and hasn't received any notice yet. I heard that GO sometimes sends stuff out and doesn't let you know until you're holding it and check your e-mail later to find a tracking number. I don't know it that's true or not as this is my first order with them.

My stuff came from MA, went to NY, and then to OH. I ordered from MN!!

Ski, you're closer to MA than I am. Perhaps you'll get an unexpected caller in a brown uniform at your door soon.

In answer to your question - my starter set plus two boosters yielded a Panther, T-34 and Churchill also a Pzkw IV and Sherman and a Humber Scout car. I'm very pleased with them all. I just hope I don't have to spend too much to get the Tiger or Jagdpanther! You seem to have got off to a good start with your forces.

Good campaigning!

Bought two starters (So I would be sure to have opposing forces if someone comes over to play and doesn't have a set of their own) and four boosters. I got two tigers!!! I ended up with total: two tigers, four sherman, three Pz. IV, one Churchill, one crusader, one humber, one sdkfz 222, and one of the German self propelled guns, as well as misc troops, anti tank guns etc... I like the premise of this game, but I have to say, I think it is WAY overpriced. I have heard alot of people say that the figs are much better than they look in the pictures. I'd say they are about the same. They feel cheap and plastic-ish. The details leave something to be desired and the paint jobs are bare minimum. I read someone comparing these to Flames of War earlier on this board and someone said that Flames of War was too expensive at $8.00 per tank. I spent $104.00 on what I listed above and that was with a 15% discount. These guys would make a profit if they sold the starters for $10.00 and the boosters for $5.00. You can tell these tanks were made somewhere like China for probably like ten cents apiece. If you average it out, I could have bought the same tanks in flames of war for $96.00 or less if I wanted to buy the shermans or Pz. IV's in a boxed set. Yes, I'd have to paint them but the quality is infinitely better. When I first saw the AAM's being advertised, I got excited about it, I thought, Wow, I could even take this game and play it on a gaming terrain board. Now I think, why bother, my Flames of War stuff is so much better, the game is more detailed, the price is better for what you get etc... I was hoping for quality on par with Dragon Cando tanks or takara WTM tanks only bigger. I really don't have a problem with what the game is, It is what it is, but for the Money they want for these things, I think they are a rip off. I would have no problem with them if they were about half the cost, but they want premium dollars for this, they should offer much better quality. I know fanboys are going to probably flame me for this, but I played around with these things for a full day before I wrote this and I gave it alot of thought. I really commend Wizards for going this direction and I definitely like to see more product aimed at my favorite historical war, but I think they could have done a much better job for what they are charging, or drastically lower the price for what they did do. I'm hoping this ends up like the first run of Mageknight or D&D Miniatures, where the first run was kinda crappy but it got much better with subsequent releases. It has alot of potential, but falls way short of my expectations.

Eh, I found AAM at the local comic shop and bought a booster just to get me by. They are ok. I would be really mad if I paid over the $9 a booster for them at GO. The figures were a lot smaller than I thought. 1/87 is just about correct. Not really that bad, but not award winning. I got a Crusader, Sherman, Panzerfaust x2, Red Devil, MAS 7.5, 6 pdr, MG42 and a SMLE......

Where are you getting them for 9.00 per booster? They are MSRP $14.99 per booster and $24.99 for starter sets. I haven't seen anywhere that will sell them below the suggested retail price. (except pre-order on the web).

Thanks, Dennis

Wow!! Yesterday was like Christmas for me - the UPS man came to see me. 8)

With a case and a half, two starters, two boosters, and the free Lee tank, I have all of the rares except for ONE - the Ha-Go. I didn't even get the Lee in my order.

I did go to GameRocket to complete my collection though.

I had a pretty nice draw from my order. I'll give more details later on because I'm at work and don't have my list.

I got a few doubles of the rares but my FLGS said that most of the battles will be 200 points.

My rare doubles are - Pnzr II, Tiger I x3, Croc x3, Hellcat, Easy 8, T-34, and the KV-1.

Everything else I got was pretty much even country-wise when it comes to the infantry.

Before I ordered more stuff to go with what I have, I have enough to do 200 pointers with everyone except for the Japs, Italians, Russians, and French. I got 171 of Japanese troops.

I really like this game and will be playing a 200 pointer on all 8 maps this weekend. 8)

Kamikaze, have you got yours yet?
