Hobby Master SB2C Helldiver
Anyone have one of the 72nd scale Hobby Master Helldiver models? I am thinking about getting one. I am really into British paint schemes, and this model looks great in the British scheme they chose. Just looking for opinions on the model.

I have the Bunker Hill version and it is a sweet plane. The only thing I don't like is that all of the models come with the dive flaps fully deployed. I did the flap mod and lowered the upper ones and it looks much better now.

I have SB2C-3 Helldiver VB-18, USS Intrepid, Oct. 1944 "sinking Musashi"
The model is a solid reproduction of the Helldiver and it is one of my favourite HM models.

I agree that the HM Avengers and Helldivers are excellent diecast replicas. Two of the Helldivers come with their flaps closed---HA2201 ( "Bunker Hill" 1943 ) and HA2205 ( British Fleet Air Arm )----so, if this is your preference you may wish to look these over. My only complaint about HM's Avengers concern the lack of modification on the "Midway TBF", which I and others clamored for. OK, it was a limited run, but rather than making some fairly easy mods---like filling in the rocket mount holes, moving the antenna forward and painting in a side window and a simulated gun groove on the right side of the upper engine cowl----they simply left off the rockets, left on the radar, and gave us a TBM painted in an overly dark ---in my opinion----Midway scheme.

I have the British FAA Helldiver, and what a beauty it is! The British camo sure is unique, and the Helldiver in general is just a beast. Definitely one of Hobby Master's best prop planes! I also have HM's FAA Avenger (sporting those stripes), and I also recommend that! I just need a FAA Hellcat to finish a trio. But a word of caution, HM's Helldivers have VERY delicate pitot tubes!!!
