Great job guys! I think your consumer protection program is really cool. You very well might have saved some innocent people some serious $$$$.

Roger that BirdDog... I also got a "Thanks for the tip" response from ChillyCat01 late on Friday night.

I got burned  on e-bay once, but that was before I found  this board.

Lets keep sending messages to the bidders.
One hundred and fifty three - 1:18 scale aircraft on the ceiling looks  damn good!

I wrote the individual directly to ask if this was the "Toy" A-10, here is his reply.
As far as I know, it is 1:18 scale. The pilot is the same size as the ones for my P-47, F4U-1D, F-18 & F-16. Made by BBI, Elite Force series.
There is enough room in that reply to be totally non-commital to the truth or not and even if the pilot is 1/18th scale. My personal feeling is if he has those other aircraft as he claims he knows that it is not a "true" scale aircraft. There are more then enough photos available showing the size of the A-10 against other aircraft which make it easy to see just how truly big it is.

That's almost the identical response he gave me (see page 16). This guy clearly knows that he's pulling a fast one...he's just trying to play dumb.

Gosh, you mean it ISN'T really 1/18.....golly gee.

Unbelievable, another (new) person bid on the item today!! I sent them an e-mail also telling them about the deception. This seller has no shame....

the reality is the likely eventual winner is going to bid with just a few seconds left in the auction. So there won't be time to email him. I guess we could advise him after the fact, however, almost as good.

Also, the seller could send out 'second chance offers' to all the losing bidders and offer it to them at their highest bid price so we really need to contact everyone that bids on this item..

This is shameful, indeed..

I have already contacted all the bidders that have bid on this item and warned them. Hope it works for those that were thinking about bidding again at the last minute. But like you said Aferg, no telling who is watching and waiting for the last minute.... :(

A-10

Post by Big Duke 6 » Tue Sep 13, 2005 11:45 am

I sold to this guy twice in 2003. 1/18 planes, if I recall correctly. Straight up deal, no problems, he seemed knowledgeable of aircraft/manufacturer stuff, so surely he knows the 1/18 product lines

yes it's the same plane as Target sells. And yes, i bet the buyer will be furious when he sees it. Imagine expecting a big gorgeous, accurate A-10 model and having that thing plunked on your doorstep instead....

It's also hard for me to believe that a collector of 1:18 wouldn't seek out or become a member of this Forum. Are there any other 1:18 Forums out there?
I've learned alot and continue to learn alot on here with this great group of people!

well
i was a member of the old yahoo group and lost track when it changed.
i only found out about new link when Roy S. and i was talking about F-86/Mig15 about 19 months ago.
then it took months for me to find link after that.
maybe we could talk 21st & BBI to mention club on boxes.

interesting idea...i wonder if they'd be willing. 21c mentions us on their fansite but putting it right on the package would be even better. Since we are not dedicated to any one product line they (21c, BBI) might be unwilling to direct their customers to a site that also talks about the competition's products..

I bet our numbers would swell, though 8)

The WM buyers DO know about us. The 21st site is on the boxes, and that site has a link to this site. I don't think we could expect our board to compete for space on the box with their's :? What we do need is a link to the 21st site....

Links to manufacturers

Post by SpareParts » Wed Sep 14, 2005 3:30 pm

Hey digger - not a bad idea! What if somewhere on this board we could post links to 1:18 manufacturers? Besides the big two (21st C & BBI)maybe there are some out there we simply don't know about? For instance, I own a spectacular diecast Humvee made by a company called Exoto. Took a lot of seaching at the time, but I found an etailer that was selling this now discontinued item.

Mike, if I knew where you were I would get my wife to plant a big sloppy one on you right now---that Zero-sen looks mighty fine.

i just made a rare trip to target and i saw the a-10 in "1:18" scale. wow, nice enough plane (toy) for 19.99, but if i paid over a hundred bucks for one on ebay i'd be shedding some tears when the plane arrived.

what's the malfunction with some of these buyers on ebay? also, pretty shady of the sellers to list the plane at 1:18 scale when the box is only 20 inches long.

fools and their money...

It is rediculous what the sellers are doing on e-bay. I'm very sure that they know that it is not true 1/18 scale. Such a shame.
