has just been released 15th Aug. According to the announcement, it has a spot-free scheme, reinforced landing gears and various modifications. The price is the same as the one of the first edition.

It's been a long road, but I am still in the game.

I don't know what to say... It kinda makes me feel bad for the guys with the first release with spots and problems still. I made mine ok for me by repainting it and whatever else...
I sorta feel like this could have been a different scheme or something?

Looks like some seriously dodgy panel line shading too. And yeah, it seems like the spots are still present to a lesser degree.
Hmmm, just read thatf14guy's review post on the Black Knights Tomcat, and the panel shading doesn't seem so bad. If shipping on these things to Ireland wasn't such a killer I would seriously consider the JR reissue, and repaint my original spotcat - an eyesore in my study, especially after said shipping charges!

Well, I repainted mine long ago to abate the spots and it doesn't look too much better than what is shown. It would have been very nice if collectors could simply swap their old spotty and QC-issue-laden models with the new one, but that wouldn't make much business sense, now would it

I wonder if the lighted edition will be part of the renewal program as well? They should at least provide new legs to the 1st edition owners, such as myself, who have to pray their gear don't fail. It will never happen, of course, but it would be nice.

Just when you think JSI can't not screw themselves over any further, they actually succeed in doing it. What a joke this company is....

It does look better.
But the weathering is still not right. It should be on the panel lines, not on the panels themselves. And wavy lines.
Not sure what to think. On one hand JSI has apparently realized the problem with the first release. But on the other hand, seems like they could care less about customers that bought the spotcat.
What a screw up.

Epic fail would be more like it
Seriously this company has some serious arrogance doing this sort of thing and not offering the people who suffered with the first release any sort of recourse.

If they can't even get the airbrush squiggles on the panel lines and yes I see spots too. Almost like they put the spots on then painted over them with some smudgy color of white. Why bother?
Why don't they just sell a clean one for crisakes if they can't do it right? I still want one bad, but I ain't buying one like that one in the pics.
At least they fixed the gear though.

Yes I got one each of the spot cats, the lighted and non lit versions. The non lit one I repainted and it looks pretty good. The lit version I am thinking of trying to sell. If I can get what I paid for it.

Funny, I looked at the Black Knight Tomcat in the other thread and the weathering is a lot better. The airbrush lines actually line up with the panels, not a whole lot of spots.

I could live with that, but I can't afford the Black Knight unfortunately.

i personally think jsi may have done this on purpose perhaps to snare people into buying their remake or perhaps a special ed. like the black knights, which is alot better, but even it has flaws, the canopy hinge on mine was stiff, so it broke the first time i opened it. the bombs and new ordannce fall off pretty easily, but overall the plane looks real good once put together, of course i repainted this one, not to be revealed yet. but this wait is almost over and it will be our greatest looking repaint yet! and it will be the first special edition done as a f-14b bombcat, o those big nozzles look cool when lite up!

Im not resentfull about it. Yeah I have a "spotcat" but I like it and since I am a modeller at heart it is on the list of things to touch up. No I like my Cat and have no regrets

I like the fact that I have a spotcat... it makes it a much easier decision to do a repaint (I never liked the scheme to begin with, since it's not accurate)
I requested that Skyworks make the appropriate parts to make an accurate D Tomcat, hopefully that will happen! Otherwise mine is becoming a B, which also has plenty of great schemes!

Jeez Louise!! you can't quite comprehend the size of that thing till there's someone actually holding it. That's a BMF Tomcat!
Thanks for the pics Aki. It does look a little better than the original Spotcat.
Where'd you get your improved Tomcat?

I wonder which retailers they will find to support this? Not I.
