What are the rumored Legends?

Pappy's F4U
(Kinda pissed about this one since I got the Exclusive)
Gabby's P-47

What else?

Hartmann's G6?

They could do Galland's ME-109 or Kepford's Corsair :P

Those were famous pilots!

How about Richtofen's DR1 or Albatross? Those would be sweet.

Legends line is going to be really cool! Even though Pappy has been done before this new version should be superior in the paint department with detailed weathering. Best of all is the ground crew and ground equipment that is planned. I wouldn't count on ground crew or equipment especially being offered by themselves anytime soon.

With the P-47, new P-51, F-86, & Bf-109G6

the options are overwhelming for the following titles!

Hey TKO211,
Do you know if the Boyington Legends will only have improved paint work or will it also have some improved tooling?

Thanks,
Rogo

From what I have been told the Boyington Legends will not a retooled Corsair. It will be the same mold with the attention turning to higher quality "model like" paint job. Full stencling and weathered panel lines and paint chips will be more realistic.
New tooling development budgets were spent in the tooling up of all new Ground Crew figures (featuring a brand new armature for super posability never before offered by 21st) as well as a wide assortment of various srevice crew props. Oil cans, work benches, bomb carts and the like. I still don't know what exactly will come with the Pappy title. However I would put good money on the bet that title number 2 will ship with different ground crew diorama pieces. That more than likely being the case, my advise for anyone seriously into collecting all the ground crew pieces would be not to pass on the Pappy title.

I love my first Pappy plane I remember buying it from Bad Cat! I still love it however I suspect it will either become a custom project for a new scheme or perhaps a neighborhood kid will become the proud new owner. I don't mind so much getting a better Pappy complete with brand new diorama pieces! I can't wait to know what the next one will be for sure.

If the new legends series have a wide distribution - going to various small retailers and Wal Mart - then the Bad Cat Boyington Corsair exclusive may become sort of a collectors item. Afterall, it still looks great!

Thanks for the information TKO.
I really like hearing about the extra effort in the paint details. It would be interested to hearing how/where these will be finished in order to maintain a high level of quality. It seems that as the detailing increases, the potential for paint gaffs also increases. I can't say how many times I had to place a 1:18 back on the shelf because of misplaced or fuzzy stencilling. I hope that 21st will take extra measures to ensure a high quality product in the box.
Bring on the Legends!

Thanks again,
Rogo
