BBI F-4 Phantom

Post by RAD 2112 » Fri Jun 25, 2010 5:29 pm

So after a year and a half, I finally opened my 1/32 BBI F-4 Phantom.
It's HUGE!!! It displaces ~3 1/32 P-51 Mustangs from the shelf display.
I'm dreading breaking out the 1/32 Famemaster F-14... :shock:

The only negative things I can say are:

* Optional landing gear setup
Granted, it looks great with fat tires, but I would have preferred retractable landing gear... It's just a personal preference.

* Weak wingtip hinges
As soon as I removed the wings from the package, I heard something loose rattling around.
Unfortunately, it was one of the clear plastic pieces that holds the wingtip in place when deployed.
I think it had to do with the wires used for packaging.
I am debating whether to glue the wingtips in place or not. :(

Overall, I was very impressed with the plane. The detail and paint were excellent.
I would definitely recommend getting one if you have the opportunity.

I thought about buying one, but it just seemed too big at the time. Now I am kinda wishing I had went ahead and got one.

The BBI 1/32 Phantom is a very nice model,that has a lot of gravitas to it.

Really disappointed that BBI never did any other squadrons or schemes with this model.

I would buy any repaints that they did. :wink:

The BBI F-4J is a super model. Really wish they would do the Blue Angel paint scheme.

I'm thinking that Phantom is at least as big if not bigger than a 1:32 WWII twin engine bomber.

Too bad it wasn't released in USAF Vietnam camo...yet.

I don't usually buy modern jets, but I got that one.
