I am missing something here???

Post by Razor17019 » Sat Sep 03, 2005 8:16 pm

Curious how some auctions draw more bids and larger sums of money than others:

Each of us have these figures in one form or another.
I am not sure what the big attractions is though, do you??

Kudos for the seller.

Dang, he must really want them bad. I won an auction the other day with some of them. I got 12 figures for a little over $30. :) (Maybe, I should sell them.)

We have all discussed this question before.

Some say it is the timing of your auction.

Some say it is the way you word the description.

Some say it is the quality of the photo. Good, clear pics sell an item.

Some say it is the way you respond to a question. Nasty people don't sell well......whatever you think of the question. The dope asking a really stupid obvious question can have money in his grimy little fist.

Some say it all those reasons.

I personaly say that it is a lack of any research. The guy that pays me $175 + shipping for a 1/6 Command Car can get a new one with a General Patton figure for $99 on the net from EToys. If you want something, ya gotta do research.

Of course, all these sugestions come as "Bold talk from a one eyed fat old man". Seeing as how tonite, I overbid by $20 for a vehicle I've been looking for, for six weeks and tonite I just had to have it. :) Go figure.

TTT,
Don't feel bad, we all get bidding fever sometimes. I did a dumb thing the other day. I bid on a dutch auction where someone is selling more than one of the same item. He had the auction @ .99 each and I bid 5.50 each for 3 items. NO ONE else bid and I was stuck paying 15.00 + shipping where I would have had it for 2.98 + shipping!!!

Oh well, I got a couple good VN figures and 3 Mutts in various degrees of condition.

Live and learn!

The wonders of EBAY always seem to amaze me. I guess when you put things up for auction you are sort of rolling the dice that your item will 1) sell and 2) sell for big bucks. I'm sure it's happened to everyone who has sold items on EBAY.

EBay is like shooting craps. You never know who is taking that particular time to look at your auction and your item is something they want.

Kinda like a yard sale, sometimes smething you think is junk commands more attention than the good stuff. I always am suprised at what interests people. :)

I saw a 1/6 stoner machine gun from a Dragon figure (Terry, Navy seal gunner) go for $31.50. The seller claimed it was rare. I did a serch on a google after seeing this and found out Toysnswords still has the figure for $35. The bidder should of looked around.
