New Guy (New Pics)

Hello to all, I have visited this site for a long time and find it extremely interesting and informative. This is the first time I am posting. As of this time I am collecting 1/144 aircraft and 1/18 Corsairs I thought some people might get a kick out of the pics.

Can you tell us more about this 3 planes ? what is the scale ? and if theses are 1/18 where did you get the 4 bladed corsair and the dauntless ?

The Dauntless looks a bit small for 1/18.

The Corsair looks like it could be a very well made Guillows model. The size is right, and it actually has the same markings as the Guillows kit. Guillows also made a Dauntless in the same scale, and this one also carries the same markings as the Guillows kit. My guess is he did a fantastic job building the two Guillows kits. Hopefully he will chime in and let us know.

Ah, alright. Do you know where to get them or how much for them?

Yup, they are listed as 1/16 scale. I have the P-47, but I am saving that one to convert to r/c. Nice kits, but they are pretty heavy if you want to make them free flight rubber powered models. Best bet on price is ebay. I have been watching a few different models and they can be had for as little as $30 to $40 shipped if you're patient. At least that's what I have found. I am currently hunting for the 1/16 P-38. They go for a bit more cash then the Dauntless, Corsair, and Thunderbolt.

Hi, Im sorry this is the first chance I had to get to my computer. The 1/18 Kepford Corsair is 21st Century and Yes the other 2 are Guillows balsa wood flying kits. My father made them....geez over 30 years ago. He covered the out side surfaces with sheet balsa to make them static models. He did go the extra mile and get rubber wheels and correct props at the Hobby shop. The small part I had was to paint them. My brother has the P-47 painted up with invaison stripes. I'll get a pic of that. Thanks for your interest.

Shame about the name as you have a real connection to it.Maybe 90THBG,or something similar.?

Did you know that Corgi did a 1/72 B-24 in the 321stBS,90thBG?

You should definitely get this model,if you don't have your dads exact squadron already.

My father was a top turret gunner / flight engineer. From what I can piece together his plane was named The Queen of Hearts. I have posted pics and info on a couple of Jolly Rogers sites. My apologies for getting away from 1/18 scale. How do you change your username?

Yep, thats her. 44-40185. The tail would would be red and have 0185 on top of the skull and crossed bombs.
