The ball was dropped as far as Sahara is concerned and my guess is that the products will never be released. First, who will buy them, besides members of this board and second, who will sell them? If I was a retailer I sure wouldn't take the chance of investing in those items only to have them sit in storage.

"my guess is that the products will never be released"
- They will be, eventually. SkyCaptain will be first though - I bet this month. Your questions about who will sell them are good ones....
As for Platoon, I still contend '06. 20th anniversary of the flick, maybe a special release DVD...and maybe, JUST MAYBE, a timely release of tie-in product....

"Sky Captain" is so old it's almost a classic. A tie-in plane would be a mistake. Who would buy it? I'd say only this boards group of die-hard collectors.

At least "Sahara" would have the M-48, which people do want, even a helo, I think would sell given the right price

"Platoon" would sell whenever it is released.

My 2 cents.

Actually I can confirm that the P-40's for Skycaptain are now out and actually are selling very well. The first shipment at my WalMarts here were in last week and are now sold out. Perhaps people just love the P-40 with any shark mouth? Who knows.

Sahara has not been dropped, in fact I think there is a rumor out there that the 1:6 jeep is already out. I hope to learn more on this.

Platoon.... Look for more info on this in the next interview with Roy. I asked that question....

I think I might buy the Sky Captain one, I really enjoyed the movie and it'd be a nice display piece.

The Sahara stuff I can wait for but I sure wish the Platoon stuff would make it's appearance soon.

I have read on one of the 1/6 boards that they saw the 1/6 Sahara Jeep in Wally in CA. Where else would they see it first?

Sure not around here, that's for sure. With the cost of gas nowadays, I think I will just wait for the next Wally to be built.

The way things are going there will be a Wally in every neighborhood on the planet before too long. Then we all can walk to our Wally's. What is it, 6,000 stores and adding more every day.
:) :)

How many countries besides the USA have Walmart? I wouldn't mind if they built one here, we already have K Mart.

I recently read in our local paper that WM opened up a new store in Shanghai, China. Don't know whether it's the country's first WM but it appears they are establishing themselves around the world.

Wally has 1,600 stores in ten countries outside of the US. By the end of next year Wally is planing on having TEN Super Wally's in China.

In China Wally is planing on replacing the local food markets with Wally's in specific areas. Their regular customer will visit Wally three to five times a week. After costly mistakes in stores in Germany and Mexico (where they tried to open stores with American ways of shopping and American views), they have learned and bend to local habits.

With sales of 3.2 BILLION and down earnings in the last quarters, Wally does not like to loose money.

Watch your TV listings for the CNBC special on Wally, it is an eye opener.
