1/16 Chinese M26 Pershings
Sorry if this is old news but I ran across some of these on ebay and hadn't seen any posts on this site about them.
Has anyone on the board bought one? Are they any good? I know they are not going to be up to Tamiya standards but they're a heck of a lot cheaper than the Tamiya ones. Too bad everybody I've seen selling them on ebay feels they need to sucker people in with a cheap price and then lay the hammer down with $50 shipping and handling.
Here's a link to one:

There are 2 versions of the Pershing, one has sound effects and exhaust SMOKE,
the Tiger 1 has been released with smoke and sound as well. The way this is going, soon they will release a version with infra red combat systems like the tamiya tanks.
BTW I see highway 61 has released a 1/16th US WW2 dumptruck, I have ordered one.

Thanks for posting the link red69charger. I have'nt seen these before. They look very nice, and would look a lot better with some weathering. Too bad shipping costs more than the tank itself.

whats up doc....
1:16 M-26/Tiger
I bought three of these, 1 first release tiger with no smoke or sound effects (guy didn't add any packing inside the tanks box so the right turret pin for the main gun broke off inside the turret). I then bought 1 Tiger and 1 Pershing with smoke and sound effects off a different person. Packing was much better but the pershing had a few parts break off anyways. I didn't even run the tigers. I tried out the pershing first, it says add 2-3 ml of aerosol for smoke which I did. The smoke motor burnt out in 2 mins and soon after the gun no longer elevated anymore. I then noticed that the right side track was rubbing against the fender as the front right road wheel axle was sticking out (coming apart from the tank hull). The bb system isn't that great either and only shoots bb's 25 feet rather than the 25 meters that most auctions state. It also dry fires a lot so it will shoot 2 and then cycle and not shoot 2 times, then shoot the next cycle. I used this tank for about 8mins run time total. However, I had a ad in my local buy n sell for the first tiger I bought(no sound/smoke) for $150 CDN obo since I had the 2 smoke/sound tanks coming in the mail and no longer wanted it. I received the 2 smoke tanks a day before the ad came out. The next day I had 2 calls, one guy bought the smoke Tiger and semi broken Pershing for what I paid(told him about all the problems), and I sold the other tiger later on that day for $50 more than what I paid (also told him about the turret pin). I also kept 2 batteries and a set a of Pershing tracks that came extra with the 2 smoke tanks.
As for scale, I no longer have the pershing so I can't compare with my 1/16 FOV Ktiger but it looked about right. After all these are knockoffs of the Tamyia kits. They do have pretty good detail too, they both came with commander figures(cut off at the waist), decals and the Pershing came with a decent 50 cal.
I paid $101 Canadian for my first Non smoke/sound Tiger including shipping. The 21st Tigers were $93 Canadian including taxes in local TRU's so $8 more for R/C version isn’t bad at all.
If I were to get another I would just get the non smoke/sound version. These kits are fairly heavy too, around 15lbs, for one tank USPS ground to my door cost the guy $26 USD. Still doesn’t justify the $40-60 USD shipping fees some are asking.
On a side note, the seller that I bought the first non smoke/sound Tiger off is refunding me $20. Don’t think I am going to get anything back for the defective Pershing.
Here is a picture of the smoke/sound tiger set with a regular 355ml beer can for size reference::

It would look pretty nice as a static model with marines by it and Tamiya decals. The barrel looks a little short. I would probably mess up a $400-$500 Tamiya tank and there to expensive for me anyway.

Wise, the barrels are a bit short, Black Dragon, the hatchs open (with a 1cm drop, ones for loading bb's) but you would have to cut into the turret under the commaders hatch to place a full figure in there. A full figure inside may get the the way and jam the turret up when rotating but should be fine for display.

is it worth the money
is the pershing worth the money and can you see the difference when you come pare the bulldog tiger 1 from 21st century
whats up doc....
Re: is it worth the money
I was wandering the same thing, shipping included. They all seem to be around an $80 total. Would it be worth getting to use as a static model, and is it anywhere near the detail of a Tamiya tank?Black_Dragon_One wrote:is the pershing worth the money
Also, thank you for your reply and the review.

Black Dragon, from my point of view they are worth the money as a static model as is, you might want to go as far as paint the silver drive sproket. If you want to go further, they are a great base and if you can repaint/weather throw on some ad ons it would look really good. The paint is the big difference between the M-26 and Tiger/bulldog, it doesn't have that flat finish like the 21st vehicles do. The Tiger's paint is flat and out of the two the Tiger is much better.
Wise, there is a fair amount of detail on it. I haven't seen the Tamyia version in person but I have seen a few other 1/16 Tamyia's and it really can't be compared.
Here are some upclose pictures I took when the seller requested some pictures of the damage, hope they help out:

If you get can this tank for $30 or less, buy it. Anymore and it's a waste of money. Like all Hen Long tanks, this one's a piece of junk too. Don't fall for Ebay sellers' trick of advertising a low price then slap you with a $50 shipping fee.
Like I said, this is a pile of manure. I bought one thinking I'd convert it to a Super Pershing, seeing I can't bear to radically modify a $500 Tamiya Pershing. But I never learn my lesson.
The RC gear would last about 2 hours, the BB gun will last about 20 minutes, like any Typical Hen Long. That's the life span of my 2 Hen Long tanks. You can try fixing it if you have any RC gear sense, but be prepared for wading through globs of thick, KY-jelly type of grease. The insides are covered with it. I don't even want to salvage the NiCad battery that came with this, seeing NiCads can catch fire if improperly use, and I don't want to risk injury with a dirt cheap battery.
For the tank model itself, it's a poor copy of Tamiya. I'm saying poor because many parts doesn't even fit properly. The only salvageble parts are the tracks, which can be used for extra stowage for your other tanks, seeing the Hen Long track are very fragile! Plus you can remove the K ration boxes, jerry cans, ammo boxes, for extra parts, but be warned that these things are glued well on the tank, making the removal process extremely difficult. Plus, these do not have the extra detail of its Tamiya counterparts.
Avoid these things like the plague. You're gonna spend the rest of your time looking at it, finding flaws, wishing you should saved your money for a Tamiya Pershing instead.
I don't know why Hen Long makes such crappy products. My guess they think if they make the bootleg copy bad enough, Marui, Tamiya, and other reputable companies won't go after them.

I know its too late for Black Dragon, but I wrote a warning about them on our tank club website a while ago.

RC talk
Speaking of Tractors, there is a Model T Ford that was converted into a tractor. It's sitting on some Island west of Vancouver and has been sitting since the 1920's rusting out.
If anyone is planning to win an RC challenge with a Hen Long, their grass will win, even if it's been cut in the last couple of days. Items made in China still have a ways to go but are getting better from what I hear.
I'm still sticking with my Airsoft guns and Tamyia models made in Japan. Sh*#, I have a 2004 Honda and it's made in Canada, some say better than in the U.S. Still my best car owned by far is my 82 rabbit built in the U.S.A. The picture of that beater is in my avatar.
