Anyone still finding GI Joe Humvee?

Post by Morian Miner » Fri Nov 05, 2004 7:18 pm

Do people still see these on theirs shelves in their respective areas? I have yet to see these in my area, but today I saw one in the back of a TRU display, but nothing on the shelf. Did these come packed by themselves, or were they packed with something else, like the VAMPS that are hogging shelf space?

I've seen the same displays here, but no product actually on the shelves. I'll bet they show up soon for Christmas.

I have never seen these on the shelves. Am wondering if they are being "held back" for a Christmas push

You know the old saying, "B@#$ch in the forum, and ye shall receive"

Was at Target yesterday and found 1 Humvee with a stack of the Joe F117 knock-offs. As much as I like the Humvee, I'm more impressed with the driver, as far a Joes go.

caught three yesterday at a local Target, first time I had seen these. Jungle ops Humvee (std woodland scheme) had them marked for $9.49 ea, I believe it showed the regular price at $18.99? but worth checking your target regardless.

5 or 6 now on the shelf at one of my local TRUs (Greece NY). Almost walked away, but ultimately picked one up for 20% off the 16.99 sticker price (had a one-time discount card they sent in the mail), so it was $13.59.

Looks pretty good, and I kind of like the look of the fugure. I'll be keeping it in the package for a while, as is my habit.

Also picked up 2 African American, desert uniform bbi Black Hawk pilots.
Does anyone know if you can swap heads on the the bbi figures, like you can with 21C???

You can swap BBI heads easily, perhaps even moreso than the 21st heads. That why I have Caucasian BBI Desert Blackhawk pilot and an African-American Green "Seal" Blackhawk pilot!

I did break a peg pulling too hard on a BBI head once. Most come out easily, but if not don't break it. Use the old "boil and pop" method. Put the figure in boiling water for 2 or 3 minutes, the plastic will soften up and the head (or any other joint) will pop out much easier. Once out you can trim the peg (by sanding or carving) so that you can easily pop it in and out. Carefull not to trim too much, that might make the head loose, and wobbly in the neck. I like having easily removable heads (especially with BBI since so many of thier figures have the same head sculpt) I have extra heads for some of the figures so I can have a camo painted face and a clean face version. Now he can go from the field to the office with a swap of the head.

Now that I think about it and just in case BBI is lurking. How about some new head sculpts? I would also like to see an accessory pack from BBI that includes head gear. I would buy a couple packs of hats, helmets and berets. If you don't think hats will sell alone then throw them in with the weapons packs, I have bought more than my share of those. Or maybe skip the middle man and sell them online only...?

Thank you both, tmanthegreat and don!

And don, I agree with you about accessory packs - I'd love to be able to buy just a pack of helmets.

Humvee

Post by grockwood » Thu Nov 18, 2004 7:21 pm

Finally found the GIJoe Humvee today at a KC area TRU for $16.99. Looked good till I noticed the metal axles are easly visable from the front and back. Too toy like for me.

Looks like they're trying to keep with the times. Just like the ones little Johnnie sees every night on TV, burning or otherwise. I just find it so interesting how Hasbro is making this vehicle so realistic compared to nearly everything else they offer. Are they trying to appeal more to collectors or to a changing taste among kids in a nation at war?

I finally saw these at Target this weekend. But, like someone mentioned in a previous post, the exposed shiny metal axles make them too toy-like. I actually thought the F-117 knock off was a cool idea, I'd love to see these in true 1:18 scale. They can't be much larger than a P-38..??

I found ONE of these at my local TRU and bought it. This was a week or two ago and they haven't put out another one yet.

I talked to a buddy who works at TRU and he said Hasbro shipped those display cases to the stores "as is." Whether the store had the toys that are in the case or not. That's why they have items that aren't out yet and items that have been here and gone.
He said the Transformers case is the same. People would ask for something that is in there, but the store doesn't have it yet.

And Target has zip.
God Bless America.

ShopKo has 3 or 4 of them $16.99 each.
