Okay guys, WM is starting to get me worried. In the past two days I've been to 3 different stores and they've all had XD on clearance; and this is the new stuff, not the planes that have been sitting there forever.

The M3A3 and M41 are at $20, all the figs are at $4, and though it wasn't marked, the WC57 rang up at $18...

I mean they JUST started carrying them around here not even a month ago, and already they're getting rid of them?! They didn't even give them a chance!

I'm reeeeally hoping that this is just part of a store reset or something, although I initially thought I had started to find these because of the reset, but maybe not. I dunno, I just have a bad feeling about this. Are they on clearance anywhere else or is this just a regional thing?

The WM's in my area (Northern CA) have not had any clearance prices on any of the new XD stuff and most of the stores right now do not have any of the new stuff in stock right now.

32x Planes

Post by Charlemagne » Wed Aug 17, 2005 7:38 pm

I am dying for the Marines and Nips to show up here in Tampa but it's zip. However, I did pick a 1/32 Eagleston P-47 and they had the black 109 night fighter and the black P-40 Sky Captain plane.

So cool

I saw that online - so cool. 8) Need that Red Army in 1:18. The Brit weapons are cool too, they would come right after the Ruskies in my 1:18 scale dreamland

Found the first XD figs I've seen since Toys R Us at the Delmont,PA Wal-Mart... It's a high-volume store, and one of the only WM's in my area I don't completely loathe going to because the store's generally kept very clean and a notch above 99% of the WM's I've ever visited.

It's also the only WM I've seen large ammounts of any XD product in. They've been loaded with AA Choppers and a couple German planes for months now but finally got in some new stuff.

I saw:

-Walker Bulldog
-Winter Halftrack
-Brown Camo Hanomags
-Green & Camo Marines

No Japanese unfortunately, no Battle of the Bulge either, but I got my first Marines anyway and that's a good thing. Very cool figures though the face sculpts leave a lot to be desired. BBI's still tops in that department. Couple nice neutral ones though. The blonde guy looks like he needs a change of shorts though judging by his eyes. I'm guessing he's on his first landing. :)

I must say too, I skipped a couple figures just because of the craptacular hands... The guy with the flag for instance, or the guy who's I'm guessing going to die of lung cancer because he'll forever have a cancer stick in his fingers. Dunno what the deal is with those.

Gotta figure if I have replacement hands here somewhere for them.

Great stuff though... The paintjobs are amazing. :) Now they just need some targets!

Hey JJ, good to hear you finally saw some figs on the pegs. Not just because he's Digger, but the guy with the Flag is a great figure save for the Flag...so one of the Japanese privates comes with an extra hand for him. Once you get the Japanese you have to go back and rescue Digger :o

I stopped back the Walmart that was re-setting it's shelves a few weeks ago and this is what I saw..

XD:
Walker Bulldog
Hanomag
Dodge weapons carrier
Super humvee
Black 12 fw-190s (and others)
Coed Sherman
Jap figures
US halftrack
Marines

Also, in smaller scale:
Matchbox 1/72 A/C
Spotted camo Zero
Rutans F-100
Nasa Starfighter

No new 32X stuff at this Walmart yet, but a spattering at other Walmarts..

Spotted the new S2 Marines today. They look good and the cammo is really cool, but the faces were painted better on the S1 figures. Still, having the slightly different faces will allow for some individuality for those that want to stock up on the new figures :)

I'm gonna nab the rest of the Marines just have to do it a little at a time... I like that the camo repaints have different painted heads too. Short of mixing in some old headsculpts they have, that's a great thing and they really do differ in looks enough to believe they're a whole other group of joes.

I wonder if camo and green were mixed in the PT? I don't know nearly as much about the pacific war as I like to think I know about Europe/Africa... :P

I think they mostly wore the green uniform until 45 when most if not all were issued the camo. By the end of the war I'm sure there was some mixing & matching, especially the gear.
Someone will be able to clear this up I'm sure.....anyone?

Acutally, the camo fell out of favor quickly because it fades rather easy. So, the wonderful camo would get a sort of white sheen and stick out like a sore thumb. From what I have seen, they preffered the greens.

The cammo pattern on the S2 marines, IMHO, is one of the best paintschemes for 21c figures thus far. Those who may be considering getting them may like to know that the hanging part of the shirt is rubbery (like on the BoB and Japanese figures) allowing for much easier positioning than the S1 Marines!

Anyone on the west coast finding the 1:18 Panzer IVs, desert Hummers and command cars that have been popping up recently? I know that our area has already gotten the US Halftracks, COED Shermans, M-41s, Japanese, and S2 Marines - plus the new 32x stuff - but has anyone seen the other items being found elsewhere?

Hey Tman, I've seen them in NorCal. I saw the 1:18 Panzer IVs and desert Hummer on Sunday at the Mt View Store. The command car I've seen at a few stores within the last month. So the stuffs out there probably somebody else in your neighborhood likes 1/18 too.

Found the best selection of Ultimate Soldier stuff yet in Houston. One store on the NW side of town has S1 Marines, Japanese troops, BOB figures, BOB and new German and US halftracks, COED Sherman, M41 in winter and olive, Panzer IV, FW190 Black 12, and P-47 Eileen in 1/18 XD They had both the British and German 32X troops and several of the playsets. They also had some armour and planes in 32X and they even had alot of the 1/6 weapons and accesories sets.

It was great to actually see almost half an aisle worth of Ultimate Soldier merchandise that was actually on pegs and shelves that normal people can reach (even kids) and not rotting away on the top shelves as overstock. Maybe this stuff will actually sell now. Then again, if it doesn't I can get more once they put it on clearance. :D
