BBI F/A-18 Question

Post by Timbo » Wed Aug 17, 2005 8:48 pm

Are the bombs that come with the Hornet intended to be Mk 83's (1000 lb)or Mk 84's(2000 lb)? Thanks!

I'd like to know about that too. Also why are the weapons not compatible between the F-16 and F-18, I would love to switch my warloads around. ALso, has anyone else noticed the size difference between the Sidewinders on the F-16 and F-17, how did that happen?

They seem to me at least to be too small for Mk 82's. Besides, who in their right mind would even bother leaving the carrier with only 4 500 pound bombs on board?

The same person who would launch with three drop tanks into a combat zone and no LANTIRN or FLIR pods. My biggest complaint about the 1:18 fighters so far is the lack of ordnace, I would love to be able to switch things up more. I think it would have been better if they gave each plane three different loads, Air to Air, Air to Ground, and ferry, with the drop tanks, they you could mix and match to your hearts content.

they're mk 82's. Length of almost 7 1/2 feet confirms it. Mk. 83 1000 pounders are almost 10 feet long....about 6 1/2 inches in 1/18 scale.

So Cheetah is leaving the deck with 4 x 500 pound bombs and three drop tanks (and two sidewinders).
