Nice tank there Dragon. Probably $750, my best guess for a good jumping off point for a USED Mat KT. That's a serious battle tank though.

GUYS:

Thanks for the info. I've been looking for a Battle of the Bulge King Tiger and got this on ebay. I've never been involved with R/C before, so I was wondering what its real value is.

The only problem I have with this Matorro King Tiger is that the real #222 tank didn't have zimmerit. My other option was to wait for the FOV 1/16 King Tiger-Peiper, but it also has problems (excessive corrosion, possibly wrong paint scheme, not really commanded by Peiper). So, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Yeah Dragon, that's a seriously upgraded tank! Phil at rctankwars.com specializes in upgrading Matorro King Tigers.

The Matorro electronics have all been gutted and replaced with Heng Long and the DBU as the Mat electronics are pretty chintzy. The turrent motor has been replaced as the Matorro turrent motor is notoriously slow (but realistic).

The only thing I would check is that is has the metal gear boxes since the beast has metal tracks.

I love mine as is. RC works fine, turret is slow but as has been said it's realistic. How really fast do you want a 1/1 turret to spin?

I can see a set of metal tracks in the future but that's all. Since the tank comes with no numbers on it so decals can be bought for it for mine.

I really wish we had seen a 21C 1/18 though, I imagine it would have been a beauty....

Not worth 750, that's for sure. It's only worth what you think it is to spend on.

Better to start off with a new one and go from there. That's about $200.

I know nothing about R/C tanks which is why I'm asking. I bought the Matorro only because the alternative, the FOV 1/16 King Tiger-Peiper, is getting very rare and more expensive.
I originally planned to use the Matorro for static display, but since it's R/C, I'll see how that works.

Seems like an awful lot of coin if all you want is a static display. Not trying to rain on your parade or anything, just my humble opinion. BTW, what did they do... cut the side fenders off that thing...?? Personally I think it would look better with the fenders on, but again, just an opinion.

If you want to use one as a static display, don't get that one as all the money is in the RC gear and electronics. ones that don't work (RC) sell on ebay occasionally for about $60 or so?

2 points:

1. Here's another photo showing the side skirts on the left side...I never noticed the skirts weren't on the right side---I'll email the seller about that.

2. Just curious, but again, how much do you think this King Tiger is worth?

I would pay $600-700 for the KT as you described. if I was a serious RC guy. I'm not a serious RC guy and to me, I will use the tank as I received it for $150 shipped and maybe will add metal tracks for another $100, so to me, $250 would be all it is worth.

For my 2 cents. And you know what opinions are like?..... that thing everyone has....

BTW - What is the "All-go" (21st Century) 1/18 KT? Have I missed something?

Thanks for the input. I didn't come close to paying $700 for it, but it it wasn't cheap, either. I just emailed the seller about the missing right side fenders---I looked mainly at the photo of the tank's left side which has the side fenders. Ostketten noticed the missing right fenders.

Also, 21st Century Toys is back with a new name---All-go Toys--and the 1/18 King Tiger is on their website. But Corey Stinson said All-go's models are limited editions and they won't be cheap.

I am impressed with the All-go site and the KT does look sweet. I'll get in line to pay premium bucks for a 1/18 KT, maybe more than one. One for me and a couple of limited edition KT's for my vault for future sale, along side my stacks of MD sale items from last year.

I was thinking the same thing why pay all that money on a updated rc tank when your going to to us it as a static model

I think you should of asked these question before buying the tank
If your going to us it as a rc tank then the new paint job won't last to

If I were you I would of got a 1/16 king tiger model kit & got someone to make it for you

Thanks again for the input. I've never owned an R/C tank before, so I wanted you guys to give me some input so I could determine if I could a good deal on my Matorro. Based on your replies, I think I did OK.

Concerning the missing right side fenders, I found several photos of King Tiger #222 on its way to Belgium for the Battle of the Bulge and and after it was knocked out by an M10 tank destoyer in Stavelot, Belgium---#222 never had right side fenders and was missing one left side fender---which is the way it is on the Matorro. So the model is accurate...praise the almighty.

As for buying it for static display, the price was still cheaper than the FOV 1/16 King Tiger-Peiper, which is the tank I've wanted for a long time to go with my other two FOV 1/16 tanks---Wittman Tiger I #007 and the Sherman. The R/C is frosting on the cake, although my living space is very tight because of lots of 1/18 models, so I doubt I'll be using R/C very much. Also, I already have a Hobby Master King Tiger-Peiper, but it's in a small 1/48 scale.

Again, thanks again for all the helpful input. My Matorro should arrive next week.

You can get a new RC KT new in box, never opened for around $110 which includes shipping. Thats what I paid for mine on ebay. All of those extras just don't mean anything unless you are a serious RC guy because only the very serious spend that kind of money on one.

Price-wise the upgrades dont equal 700
I could do that paint for less and better
they cut of the fenders but didnt make them look like they had been removed
no its a nice tank with upgrades I plan on doing with mine but not 700 nice
id pass on it

That was what I noticed right off the bat. The paint scheme is quite nice, no doubt about it, but the issue with the fenders is highly unrealistic and inaccurate, and it's difficult for me to understand how the builder could put that much time and effort into all the other aspects of the tank, and then royally botch the fenders...??

At any rate, as long as the buyer is satisfied with the tank and what they paid for it, and it suits their purposes, then that's all that really matters.

I've seen the left side photo before which made me wonder about the two exhaust pipes---they don't appear to be visible in the photo, maybe because of the perspective, but I would think they should be visible from that angle.
Also, look at the right side photo I posted just before your photo---the exhaust pipes don't appear to be visible in that photo, either. But again, maybe it's just the perspective.
