I for one and I'm sure others look forward to seeing what you can do for us and what your final price point will be, I've been a happy customer of Fightertown decals for many years and have always been pleased with the quality and selection I've found. I'm sure others will as well. We look forward to hearing what you can offer in the future.

The wait may not be long for decals. As we know Brian at Fightertown Decals will most likely be producting some decals and Skyworks toys already has some made and will sell some of those. Don't know if you've heard of Zotz Decals. They are a Mexican company and they print in Mexico. Eli, the owner, is producing the VF-111 "Miss Molly" scheme and will offer them as well. Take a look on these threads:

I personally am less interested in the VF-84 scheme as that is the one that got produced by the manufacture. When I think of decals, I am thinking of newer schemes that can be made because we do not have them available from the manufactures. I will not spend a dime on another Jolly Roger scheme (unless they are Lo-Vis) nor any other scheme that we already have.SierraMikeBravo wrote:I would only likely purchase the 1978 VF-84 decals.
Hey guys,
I spoke to Brain on the phone about a month ago about some possible decal solutions. I gotta tell ya he seemed willing to work something out for me that would be resonable. Due to my current job I'm unable to work on my 2nd F-14 for a few months . I look forward to giving Brain my business in the coming month or two. Great to see you on here helping all of us with our future F-14 decals.

Here's the latest from the F-14 decal world. These went to print a few weeks ago and will be released in Feb on our website. Price is TBD but will be in the $25-35 range.
Microscale printed decals with our usual attention to detail!
Hope they meet with some approval. Have a few more sheets to show as this endeavor picks up a little steam
Enjoy!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!
Now all I need is to buy the F14.
Buy the way the decals and customer service are TOP NOTCH. The great thing about microscale printing is the edges of the decals have a taper. Once top coated they look painted on. I am currently using some these in 1/32 from fightertown decals for a couple of museum pieces I am working on.
Thanks Brian.

www.almansur.com/jollyrogers/jollytomcats.htm The decal sheets should come with photos of the real f14s to aid in decal placement. there are 2 schemes. One solid gray the other 2 toned gray.
We know that the plane is a VF-84 scheme as referenced. The BuNo (Bureau number) on that decal sheet references 162692 which would be:NWarty wrote:Brian or anyone else,
Do you know what aircraft is referenced by the VF-84 JR low-vis decals, i.e. photographs, weblinks, etc? Would be for painting references.
F-14A Tomcat VF-84 Jolly Rogers, AJ201 / 162692. CVW-8, USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 - Flag Tail, 1991

From various sources, tt has been reported to have been upgraded to a B model and with a Lo-Vis scheme after "Desert Storm".
Shown is the Flag Tail version. The flag was painted up for this CO bird right before the return to NAS Oceana from Operation Desert Storm. An interesting fact, that during the combat, it was a heavily weathered low viz jet.
Okay,
HERE's what I've been looking for:
http://www.largescaleplanes.com/reviews ... 4_f14a.php
VF-84 F-14A LOW-VIS ca. 1994
Brian,
Anyway we could get these? The reason why I ask is that in my opinion, the darker vertical stabs for this low-vis scheme look MUCH BETTER than the two-tone fuselage and similarly painted stabs. If I remember correctly, there is an HPH F-14 Painted in this scheme. There's a photo of it floating around somewhere.
[EDIT] here's a thread with it http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/lof ... 31521.html
In my opinion, a lot of folks here like this scheme as is evident in the early pages of the F-14 thread.

The Cat Snatch Fever plane was also part of the great Nose Art Contest:
http://www.history.navy.mil/sqdhist/vrc/vrc-40/1991.pdf
THE GREAT NOSE ART CONTEST:
Near the end of the war VF-41 painted up 101 with noseart.
CAG liked it enough to authorize the other squadrons to paint one
apiece on a not-to-interfere with ops basis. By the end of the
March port call in Dubai, about everybody had complied. (except
the two F-18 squadrons, which never did it.). VA-65 had applied
the same Garfield markings to two aircraft before CAG's edict ....
they removed it from 501 by the end of March. The nose art
lasted officially until the first port call in the Med, (Haifa)
when it was to have been removed (late May). It appears as if
VAW-124 was able to hide theirs, as it reappeared for fly off to
Norfolk!
VF-41 101 Queen of Spades
VF-84 201 Cat Snatch Fever
VA-65 500/501 The Big Stick
VA-36 536 Heart Less
VAW-124 601 Miss B. Havin
VAQ-141 621 Eve of Destruction/Deception Lass
VS-24 701 Eye of the Storm
-Final note: 536 recieved red road runner tail markings when it
had its nose art painted. By fly off, all VA-36 aircraft were
so painted. 1t also aupears as if VF-84 applied black tails to
all of their aircraft fly off. (I wasn't on the ship that late)

This is the jet we're covering in 1/18th first.
http://fightertowndecals.com/files/32004_201web.jpg
It's the 201 CO jet from Desert Storm. This jet was painted shortly after cruise began in a 1 tone lowviz scheme and remained that way throughout cruise. The nose art info that was posted above is mostly correct. VF-84 removed the nose art as CAG directed after the port call and the week prior to the fly-in returning to Oceana 201 received a full gull gray and black tail paint job with the flag art also shown above. 200 was painted in overall medium gray with black tails and white accents. The rest of the squadron remained in the lowviz TPS schemes. It wasn't until later before the squadron dis-established that the link for black tails and light ghost gray markings was adopted. Once VF-103 became the Jolly Rogers, they flew black/white tails and markings after transitioning from the lowviz early VF-103 jets. Then for the last few years the squadron went to Eurogray 36081 tails for line jets and black/yellow for CAG/103. That's the $2 tour version at least
