I also got a golden Dragon from Amazon today. :(
I have post the 800 number for Amazon below if anyone needs it.
I still hope to get the Black hornet from Amazon once they figure out the mess.

BTW - Amazon took the picture down from their site.

Well needless to say I'm dissapointed that I'm not getting a black Hornet. I can't help but wonder why none of you posted a review on Amazon to let others know about the problem.

Does Amazon ship to Canada now? They didn't use to. Would be good news if they do...

I called the 800 number to Amazon.Com and complained about the deceptive practice of showing the Black F-18 and receiving a Gray one instead. They still had the Black Photo up, so the rep did see it. He immediately sent me via email a return prepaid UPS ticket and said all money would be refunded, including shipping/taxes paid. He did say that they will investigate why this happened, was sorry for any misunderstandings, as this was shipped from another manufacturer. The UPS driver just stopped by the house and the plane is now on its way back.
Hope someday we do see the Black version.

Did you have a part in getting the photos off Mike? Was curious if you had any luck seeing about getting Black Hornets to us. If not, I'll still keep the Golden Dragons... but I know that when it gets here I'll be dying to open it up and take her out if there's a good chance we won't be able to get the black one :-D

yes, i too received the golden dragon, but i'm still in awe over the size of the plane and the box it came in! this is my first modern plane from either company and i almost dropped the box when i first picked it up.

i was accustomed to wwii aircraft, which i thought were as large as it could get.

i have yet to decide whether to keep it or return it, but one thing is for sure - if i keep it i have no idea where to display it or even store it!

hmmn, maybe my car?

the f-18 is larger than the f-16 and the starfighter, right?

Yes, it is a larger airplane than either the falcon or 104. The Super F/A-18 is another 25% larger still. Wouldn't that be a box buster?

It sounds like TRU simply made a careless mistake. I don't believe they meant to deceive and it seems like they are remedying the situation the best way they can.

WoW!!!! Price is now down to 39.99! Almost wants me to get another one
even though I have both versions and just sent one back. With enough of us sending them back, they may drop the price even more.

well, i just checked the link and the image has indeed been taken down.

but that's not the only change, the price has also been reduced to a meager 39.99!

needless to say i bought another at that price! :D

i predict a sellout at that money.

in addition, the bbi p-51 and m4a3 are also listed on the site at 39.99, iirc.

welcome developments.

thanks for the answer OnWu

HOLY CRAP! Well, that's low enough for me to buy another one! :-D I'll keep one of them sealed in case I can get the Black Hornet. I may send back the more expensive one if I'm not able to get the Black Hornet.

I have to say that i'm still in shock and awe regarding how COOL is the F-18 plane!

I wanted the black one but i did not had any of the modern planes from bbi, to my surprise i got 2 of the Gloden Dragon f-18 and they are huge, super detailed and a MOST have item!!!!

So far it is a favorite of mine! :D

And that is a lot to say coming from a figure/armor guy like me!!!

Damn, I just could NOT resist that price. I tried...for 24 hours.

If I end up getting a black hornet for some reason I'll gladly trade it with someone. Don't really want that.

Someone might have received the black F-18, their is one for sale on ebay right now.

http://cgi.ebay.com/BBI-1-18-F-A-18-F-1 ... dZViewItem

In the listing he says that "I bought two of these a while back, one for myself and one to sell somewhere down the line."

But the pictures are the same as the ones from Amazon and the timing makes me think he got it from Amazon.

I am so HAPPY that I found this message board. What a real gem this community has been to me. Were it not for this board I would have joined the bidding war that has just started for that black hornet and would have paid way way way too much $ thinking it was the "last one out there".

Thank you Small Scale H.Q.
One hundred and fifty three - 1:18 scale aircraft on the ceiling looks  damn good!

Well, add another Dragon to the list received. Called the 1-800 number. They are calling it an "inventory investigation" as to why the picture was taken down. Humorous. Also, they have this complaint about the product logged in their system. Guess quite a few of us already called.

I will say this, though - probably the most helpful Customer Service guys I've gotten in a long time.

Well, reckon I'll keep mine too. Can't bear to see it there in the box any longer. Anyone have any idea how to keep the canopy shut tightly? Mine doesn't quite want to stay shut.

I’ll be keeping mine as well. They also credited me for the new lower price. Can’t beat that!

Well, I ordered the first plane and it was grey of course. I then e-mailed them and told them I had ordered the black plane, not the grey one so they sent me a new one. When it arrived, not to my surprise, it was grey as well. I then e-mailed them saying I had two planes I didn’t order and I needed to sent them back. I also said I would be willing to keep one of the incorrect items if they would give it to me for the new, lower price. They quickly answered me saying they would send me a shipping label in the mail for the one and give me a 15.99 credit for the other since the time between my purchase and the new price was so close. I just received confirmation that I had been credited this morning in my e-mail. I figured that the refund was the least they could do for all the hassle of reshipping the wrong items and such. I must say I am very happy to get this plane for a mere $40.

Yes, the same seller has a second one up for auction.

I wonder if his story is true, or is he just banking on getting a Black F-18 from Amazon.

Doubt it..

Post by digger » Sun Aug 14, 2005 7:41 am

I really don't think he has them. He has many days on the auction and the 2d listing was obviously because of bids on the first. Maybe, but I doubt he got them "a while back" and didn't pay out the....

EDIT: He has them "in hand" and they are the Black ones.
