I don't know about Brooklyn, but on the Upper East Side, between 93rd & 94th on Lexington, is a place called Jan's Hobbies. They had a decent pile of FOV 1/32 when I was there this past summer. They also have tons of plastic kits in all scales and some other pieces.

If you can call the guys at the Motor Pool, you can arrange to meet them in Queens and pick up your order from them with no shipping charge, just local sales tax.

They don't have an actual store, just a warehouse. If your mom will drive you to Oakland Gardens then you'll be all set.

There's a great hobby shop on Fresh Pond Road, you take the M-train to it's last stop in Queens, and theres a TRU there too. I can't rmember the name of the shop though.
