I was outbid with 2sec to go on an auction where one that was just missing the rear mudflaps sold for $285!
I'd almost be willing to sell my entire 1/18 collection on ebay to get the $$$ for one
Anyone here have one? are they really worth the $6-700 they go for?

The worth is what someone places on something, IMHO their not worth more than they were when originally released, and I've had 6 of these 1:16 monsters (sold three here..lol) and they're incredible display pieces, but take up alot of room. I actually like Franklin Mints 1/24 a little better, based on their size, which make them much easier to display, unfortunately they only did two models, Abrams and Sherman.

$600-$700 WOW
I agree with Klause . The original price was kind of high and I got a few of them.
But $600-$700 no way.
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first

How much were they originally? some sites that show them out of stock have prices at $1000+!

I've got the FOV 1/16 Tiger I-Wittman #007 and the Sherman.
The Tiger's detailing and weathering makes it my favorite model to look at.
I wish I had the FOV 1/16 King Tiger-Peiper, #008.

WTF !!!
I have 2 of them . I am one of the original hoarders. For that price I think I could let one of them go.

I have the King Tiger, Tiger and Sherman. The King Tiger is really nice. However, there is very little metal actually. The large majority is plastic. I was really impressed with all the interior detail. Certainly worth $300-$400. Don't think I would pay $700

Take a look at this over at Great Models, 1/6 FOA002 Jagdpanzer IV L/70 Metal Kit. Plenty of heft to it and the price is right in there.

Is the hull or turret metal at least?
how are the sherman and tiger 1 in comparison, do they have the full interior with lift off hull?

Nope. The hull and turret are plastic. The gun is metal and I THINK the bottom of the hull is metal but that's it. Oh, and the tracks are metal. Yes, lot of interior detail both in the turret and inside the hull itself. The turret can lift off and the top of the hull can lift off to see the interiors. Nice model but instead of the series being called "extreme metal" it sould be "extremely little metal". Don't buy it thinking you're getting a metal tank-buy it for the interior detail. I think it's worth 300-400.

P47faninchicago is a bit mistaken...
The turret on the KT is metal. Hull is plastic. Same with the Tiger 1
The Sherman hull and turret are all metal and has an interior.
BUT, only the KT has a removable turret.
The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.

I stand corrected. After checking my KT the turret is indeed metal. The hull is plastic

>>> I think it's the other way around and leaves much to be debated but I believe the camo scheme chosen on the 1st. Edition KT is more accurate and close to correct opposed to their 2nd. Edition which I disliked because of its
neon green type paint scheme.
............ I hope you get one "bananapirate" because these truly are nice pieces to have.
