* I just seen an FoV Enthusiast 1:32nd. version of the Matilda "Tobruk 1943" go for $91.00 + shipping on eBaY , Ouch ! *

...... I could repaint a camo'd one better'n that one anyway.

......... what is the deal w/ these Matildas lately ? ... They must be hot right now or these people are just plain stupid. Right before Christmas and everything. Sheesh !

The matilda is one of my favorite FOV AFV. I guess they are going up in value because it has been a while since the last repaint as been produced. I personnally would like to see one made in BEF colors.

You can still find action grade ones around. My suggestion is to locate one and paint it. I just bought an M7 Priest and painted it and now it's a British vehicle from North Africa.... I have some Matildas and my plan is to paint at least one for the European theater.

It is one of the better FOV vehicles.

i used to have one of these in the blue/yellow scheme,but i lost it, and now can't find it anywhere. and the price for it on ebay is just incomprehensible to me.

The Matilda is one of the earlier FOV releases and while it has 3 schemes in both action grade and enthusiast variants, the tank has not seen any re-releases or a new paintjob for several years now, hence their rarity.

It is also one of the few true British tanks that has been made in any of the affordable prebuilt scales (I'm not counting all the vehicles from Britains, K&C, etc). Add to that the fact that the Matilda is also one of the only early-war Blitzkrieg-era Allied tanks and you can perhaps see why the popularity grows.

I recently got an enthusiast Matilda in the El Alamein scheme from a boardmember in a trade and have decided to convert my original action grade Matilda to a tank sporting the BEF cammo from 1940.

>>> The Action & Enthusiast series was only 2-ea. I got a couple a these. The Enthusiast series would've been 3 , had they released the Matilda that looked like the Action series (S-2) ,.. more weathered of course but they never did. Perhaps hopefully , we'll see it in the future.

The new Tamiya retool Matilda III/IV, not sure which in 1/35 is going for $$$(like all new Tamiya) kits at the local hobby shops..it can be found cheaper online. IIRC the ICM Matilda that was supposed to be a OOB Russian Lend-Lease got canned in the Tamiya/ICM business agreement a while back, so there wouldn't be much to go against the new Matilda once it hit the market.

it's funny Tamiya which goes for easy of building vs detail IMO, now outprices Dragon, AFV and Italeri, and is up there with Trumpiter and Bronco in prices now(which I consider overpriced for the flaws found in Trump's kits)

That is a really good idea. I never considered that. I always buy multiples when a new model comes out, so that would be a good project. My display shelves will not be happy though. Maybe I could do one in the "Helopolis repair depot" scheme too...

I have three Matildas, one in Battle of France colors, one stock North Africa scheme and one I did in German markings for NA. Back when I was painting them, they were like a dime a dozen.

Christmas does seem to bring out the fever to pay big bucks for things we simply desire other times of the year.

If you want to do something really different, try a Malta Matilda. I painted a 1/76 in that pattern a long time ago. Here is a 1/35th version.
