i suspect it will be the black one. I also suspect that anyone who paid $200+ for the 'exclusive' one is going to be fuming...

I say, if you're on the fence about it, life's too short not to take the chance. Return it if it's not what you wanted. Anyway, IMHO.

But in this case the listing doesn't have the blurb about "item may vary" yadayadayada....maybe it is the black one...

P51, I'm a little embarrassed to admit it but I already have an extra Golden Dragon.
If I miss out I can kick myself later and you guys can gloat.

The other part of this is I really hate returning things. I'm still digging for a receipt for a defective 21st Truck I bought a while back.

To be honest, if I had bought another golden Dragons at Comic Con this year, and this on turns out to be the same, then I would have kept all three

So it really is the black hornet at TRU.com. Good price too. Has it been established whether there is a service Hornet that is painted all black, even if the squadron markings are somewhat fictitious on the BBI rendering?

I told you there was no sign of the word "exclusive"....happens all the time - "exclusive" could just be for a period of time. Remember the Pappy Corsair was a 'Cat exclusive?

As for the price at the time - it was up there. Maybe not 200 but pretty close. Whoever "advised" Mr. Murphy differently has a bad memory. Could someone on here who was there remember the price?

Anyway, I think I have seen a Jolly Rogers Hornet in all black like this, maybe someone can confirm.

I also bought one of the Amazon F-18's too. It is suppose to arrive on Aug. 16th. BTW - I received a $30 discount from Amazon buy applying for their credit card, so my final cost with tax & shipping was $39.58. Not too bad of a price.

Man, IIRC I posted a link to a photo of the real black F-18 in the original thread on the old board. I think it was assigned to VFA-103, the Jolly Rogers, but I'm not sure. Now, I can't find it. The current scheme is incorrect, it's got VFA-82 on the fuselage and VFA-192 on the splitter among quite a few other liberties. For the money, you can't go wrong, though.....

Does anybody know of a photo of the black F-18????

The price was $250 for the Black Hornet at Comic Con. I spent some time at the Meret (I guess) booth at the 2004 Comic Con, so trust me, I know. Pardon me for not looking at the image closer, I could have sworn it said exclusive... but however I was told as such it was an exclusive to comic con only by the people there.

But hey, great news that it'll be the black hornet!

What is so funny is that at ComicCon 2005 I spoke to the president of Merrit USA "Anthony Chin" and I asked him if bbi/Merrit would be willing to make me a black hornet just like that ones that were for sale @ ComicCon 2004. This would be for my personal collection. He would not answer yes or no... he just

smiled. Now I know that he was saying "just be patient".

Thank you to bbi/Merrit for making this black one available again.

UPS has informed me that my F-18 is "out for delivery". Its here. It was shipped from Harrisburg, PA.
Someone will probably have a "hands-on" review TODAY. I will have one after 9PM EST tonight.

Recieved my TRU F/A-18 today and it is not the black one, it is a Dragons. Hopefully there are some black ones out there, for those of you who really wanted one. I'm happy I finally have a F/A-18.
