Foxhole Toys charging S/H for JSI F-14; how about preorders?

Post by ROH_fan » Sat Oct 31, 2009 5:46 am

1/18 collector team,

While checking the status of the JSI F-14 pre-order on Foxhole Toys today I found the following message on the 1/18 F-14 product page:

"Please order this item separately from ALL in stock items. Your credit card will NOT be billed until Foxhole Toys is ready to ship. Because this item is considered oversized the FREE Shipping promotion will not apply and a flat fee of $29.99 will be charged after your order is placed"

Does anyone know if they plan to charge this to all the folks, even the ones that pre-ordered when "FREE Shipping will apply to this item!" was offered in early October 2009?

Anyone from Foxhole Toys that can clarify this?

I just don't want a nasty surprise in my credit card bill. Besides it would be ILLEGAL to add an additional charge when the product page and order confirmation page clearly show that the item is elegible for the free shipping offer.

I will be ready to call my bank/credit card company if this happens.

Any additional information will be appreciated.

ROH-FAN:

I think Aikensairplanes still has the JSI F-14 for $209.95 and FREE shipping. Call them at 877-224-5367.

Thanks. My issue is that I already preordered the F-14 at FOXHOLE TOYS when they had the "item qualify for free shipping" earlier this month.

Just wondering if FT will honor all preorders completed during their "free shipping" offer or if we will get a "nasty" surprise (extra charge) on our credit card bill. That of course would be illegal.

Anyone from Foxhole Toys in the forum this weekend?

They are a member but are not on here all the time. Why don't you give them a call?

Honestly, the only way to make sure is to call and clarify it. If they say they are charging then you can cancel your order and give Aikens a call. They are great to deal with. I have bought from them in the past.

I preoredered a F-14 from Aikens about 3 weeks ago by phone and they were already close to not taking any more pre orders. I am glad I got my order in when I did. Wrong if Foxhole charges you when you had peorder in.

Thank you for your questions and input guys! We really appreciate this forum and its venue to communicate with our customers and fellow collectors!

No worries ROH_fan, your pre-order and the rest of our valued customers who placed their orders before we changed the shipping option, will of course receive the FREE Shipping as advertised.

We would like folks to know that the team at Foxhole Toys did not take this decision lightly. We acknowledge we are in a very tough economic period and our customers are looking to save wherever and whenever they possibly can. We too, are feeling the pinch. Our loyal customers have become accustomed to our FREE Shipping option on orders of $100 or more. Unfortunately, with regards to the F-14 Tomcat, we simply could not afford to continue with the free shipping option as we had hoped to.

We still expect the actual shipping costs will be much higher than our new flat rate (a rate we tried to compromise on).

You folks are the reason Foxhole Toys is still in business despite a recession and despite what has been a very 'dry' couple of years in this market. Thank you very, very much and we wish you and your families all the very best this holiday season! :)

Thank you for the clarification. The reason I pre-ordered with you was that a friend recommended Foxhole Toys highly. I think you just earned a long time customer!

Take care.
